| Tensions mounted at the Supreme Court of the United States (which heard oral arguments in two abortion cases) when President Bush's Solicitor General Paul Clement stated that partial-birth abortion was infanticide. When Justice Ginsburg pressed Paul Clement to define "infanticide," saying that "fetal demise" could take place through other abortion procedures, Clement asserted that procedures inside the uterus were abortions under the Supreme Court's abortion jurisprudence. He went further to state, however, that once the child emerges from the uterus and is outside the woman's body, "I think we'd call that murder." |
