ECLJ LogoThe ECLJ and attorney Latchezar Popov have brought suit at the European Court of Human Rights against forceful government intervention in a matter involving the Holy Synod Orthodox Church.

A violent raid by Bulgarian authorities without a court warrant and the brutal removing and beating of priests who resisted as a result are now in question before the court.

This important case represents the largest religious freedoms damages claim at the European Court of Human Rights to date, and the judgment will largely determine the future of the Holy Synod in Bulgaria.
