(Strasbourg, France) - Former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft and ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow are participating in a special summer teaching session as well as a legal summit in Strasbourg, France - where the European Center for Law and Justice (ECLJ) is headquartered - an affiliate organization of the American Center for Law and Justice.  The summer session is co-sponsored by Regent University where Ashcroft serves as Distinguished Professor of Law and Government.

"This is an important opportunity for students to learn about international law and international security in a unique and important setting," said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) who also serves as Chief Counsel of the ECLJ.  "On the heels of the London bombings and as the global war on terrorism widens, the issue of protecting Americans at home and abroad is paramount.  Former Attorney General Ashcroft who provided skilled leadership in fighting the war on terror during his tenure at the Department of Justice is uniquely positioned to provide the kind of insight and analysis that is not only valuable but inspirational as well."

Sekulow and Ashcroft are meeting with some 30 students from Regent University and Duke University who are studying human rights and international relations.  In addition, Sekulow and Ashcroft will be meeting with attorneys from across Europe to discuss key legal issues facing Europeans and Americans.  The ECLJ has four cases pending before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg - the European equivalent of the U.S. Supreme Court.

The ECLJ is based in Strasbourg, France and the ACLJ is based in Washington, D.C.
