I will be in meetings most of the day concerning the developments in Florida involving the case of Terri Schiavo.  I am working with out legislative team to determine the best way to assist members of the Florida legislature and the Governor's office to take immediate action to help save the life of Terri.  As you know, the court system has cleared the way for Terri's feeding tube to be removed on March 18th -- an event that will result in death by starvation and dehydration.

The response to our petition campaign has been remarkable.  Thousands have said they want the Governor and legislature to intervene in the case on behalf of Terri Schiavo.  I encourage you to add your name to our petition if you haven't done so already.

There are important hearings in court today in the case.  I will let you know how those unfold.  At the same time, I will be on a conference call this afternoon with state Senator Dan Webster -- bringing him up to speed on the number of people who have signed on to our petition and discussing what kind of action is available to the legislature with this issue.  I have also directed Drew Ryun, our Director of Governmental Affairs, to put together a plan for our direct involvement in Florida.  We will be putting people on the ground in Florida to assist in this process.  I will keep you posted.
