Exploring Legislative Remedies in Schiavo Case
I had a good conversation with Florida Senator Dan Webster yesterday about the Terri Schiavo matter. I told him that nearly 12,000 people from across America have signed on to our petition requesting that the Florida legislature and the Governor's office intervene and take action to save the life of Terri Schiavo. As we continue to explore the legislative options in the Florida legislature, I am also talking with Congressman Dave Weldon of Florida to see what efforts may be available through the U.S. House of Representatives to protect the life of Terri. I know that numbers make a difference and I encourage you to sign our petition if you have not done so already.
We have a lot of work to do in Florida before March 18th - the day the court has said Terri's husband can remove her feeding tube. I am dispatching members of our Washington, D.C. legislative team to Florida next week to work directly with members of the legislature.
I ask that you continue to pray for Terri and her parents. I know that people across America are doing just that. I will keep you posted as development occur.
