Prayer is once again on the line. A crucial deadline looms in the case Freedom From Religion Foundation v. Bush a lawsuit challenging the National Day of Prayer. Our amicus brief will be filed in the next 24 hours.
Although a federal law gives the President and state Governors the legal right to designate the first Thursday of May as a day for voluntary prayer and reflection, the Freedom From Religion Foundation has challenged this right.
In fact, they are urging the court to declare the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional.
