From his enormous contributions in bringing about the fall of Communism to his unwavering commitment to defending the sanctity of human life, Pope John Paul II was a remarkable leader whose love of God and dedication to helping others will serve as a powerful example for Catholics and non-Catholics alike for many years to come. The Pontiff spent his life proclaiming an important truth that freedom is a gift from God a gift given to all people.
