There is a lot going on right now, and our ACLJ team is breaking it down.

President Biden has officially terminated former President Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” program amidst the record high surge at our border. The “Remain in Mexico” program allowed tens of thousands of migrants to remain in Mexico until their asylum process was complete, which prevented the border and our immigration system from being overrun. Now without this policy in place, the Biden Administration has enabled more migrants to once again flock to our Southern border causing a crisis and gridlock at the border.

ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in his new blog discussed the Biden Administration’s inaction at the border. When asked if the Biden Administration is themselves the root cause of this crisis, he explained:

We are now months into this problem set, and they have done nothing to respond to it. They ripped the band aid off. They took the policies that we had put in place, it took us a couple of years to get it right, but we turned the magnet off. We enforced our Southern border; we had stopped the humanitarian crisis and we kept our national security intact. They literally stare at this problem set and say nothing to see here folks. They are completely absent from this enormous crisis. I think they think if it just goes on long enough that maybe we will all forget. But I promise you the folks who are suffering from this, the human beings that are being impacted from this, the people in Texas and Arizona that are feeling it first, and those of us who live elsewhere who will feel it right behind them, we can’t turn away. This is an enormous problem the Administration has to take seriously its responsibility to secure American freedom and defend our borders.

We’ve filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit to get to the bottom of the Biden Administration’s utter failure at the border.

Of course, at the ACLJ, we’re dealing with a lot of situations – some big and some small. In a recent victory for the ACLJ, a second grader had her bible confiscated from her at school. After the child’s parents reached out to us, we sent a letter to the school educating them on students’ rights and they immediately backed down.

With the rise of a Woke, Cancel Culture, should we expect to see a wave of these types of cases? ACLJ Senior Counsel Frank Manion thinks so:

It’s very possible. There is sort of a back sliding going on here. Well, we had a conservative wave for a long time, and now it appears maybe we are going in the other direction. So, maybe all of the things that conservatives accomplished, maybe those can be rolled back a little bit. And that’s why we’re here to make sure that doesn’t happen. And people need to know that. In addition to all of the other work the ACLJ does worldwide, all over the place, in many different areas, this is still bread and butter for us.

Frank is exactly right. We won another ACLJ victory back in March when a social worker at a Federally Qualified Health Center, which is in charge of providing healthcare to the homeless, contacted us. This individual and his coworkers, who spend their day ministering to the homeless, were asked to sign and acknowledge a new “Reproductive Healthcare” policy to provide information to clients about where they could obtain abortions. They were being forced to refer for abortions. And it was not optional. Their jobs were on the line. Why would this organization just now have this new policy come about? As we’ve told you, elections have consequences.

We sprang into action, sending a legal letter outlining the federal laws that this employer would be violating, and the organization reviewed our letter and agreed with us. So, now this individual is free to go about his daily work without compromising his beliefs on the sanctity of life.

Country music singer and business owner John Rich also joined Sekulow to discuss the stress that COVID-19 and ensuing government regulations has had on businesses:

We all understood, especially in the beginning, I am just going to remind everybody. Remember when the announcement of COVID-19 came across the news and we were all seeing it for the first time? The images they were showing us were images from China of people dropping dead in the street, in hazmat suits on the sidewalks, and bodies getting loaded onto flatbed trucks. And that’s the first thing that we saw, which scared everyone to death – including me, including all of us. So, we were like if that’s what it is, then . . . we will do whatever we have to do to keep everybody safe. So, that’s how it started. If you’ll notice we never saw those images again past March. You never saw anyone else dropping dead of COVID-19 on the streets and that was suspect to me in the beginning. It put us into the mindset of fear in this country that we were all willing to do whatever we had to do. . . .

At the ACLJ we have a unique opportunity to be involved in global issues but also right down to the school board. The depth and scope of our work ranges from the grassroots level to the international level, and we will continue to be a voice for the big and the small issues around the world.

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast is complete with even more analysis of the Biden Administration’s inaction at the border, ACLJ victories, and the impact of COVID-19 on business owners.
