(Washington, DC) The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), today called on the Senate to confirm the nomination of Paul Clement as Solicitor General of the United States.  Clement, who was named Acting Solicitor General when Ted Olson left in July 2004, testified Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Paul Clement has an exceptional record of public service and is extremely well qualified for this critical position, said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ, who has worked closely with Clement over the years.  Paul has an exceptional legal mind and will advocate the positions of the United States government before the Supreme Court with excellence and distinction.  As Acting Solicitor General, Paul already has demonstrated that he has the tenacity and acumen necessary for this demanding job.  We urge the Senate to approve his nomination without delay.

Led by Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, the American Center for Law and Justice emphasizes constitutional law and is based in Washington, D.C.
