(Washington, DC) The American Center for Law and Justice, focusing on constitutional law, said today the Senate should not play politics with the nomination of former White House counsel Alberto Gonzales for Attorney General.  As hearings begin before the Senate Judiciary Committee, the ACLJ today called on the Senate to approve the nomination without delay.

Alberto Gonzales will make an exceptional Attorney General, said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ.  He is clearly committed to upholding the constitution and the rule of law.  As the nations top law enforcement officer, it is also clear that Gonzales will work to protect all Americans both at home and abroad.  He will bring solid leadership to the Department of Justice during these challenging times.  We call on the Senate to put partisan politics aside and move to confirm Gonzales without delay.
