I want you to know that as the showdown approaches in the U.S. Senate over the issue of the judicial filibuster, the media attention will continue to intensify.  At the ACLJ, I am using radio, email, and direct mail to help generate support for a rules change that will bring an end to this dangerous and obstructionist tactic - the judicial filibuster.  I am pleased to report that we are now approaching 40,000 people across America who have signed on to our Petition to End Judicial Filibusters.  Take a moment, if you haven't done so already, to add your name to this important petition.

At the same time, both sides in this battle are preparing for an advertising blitz that will occur over the next couple of weeks.  People for the American Way, which has lobbied hard to keep the filibuster in place, is planning to spend more than $1 million dollars on its ad campaign.

As I have said many times, this showdown over the judicial filibuster is focused right now on the nominees to the federal appeals court.  But make no mistake about it - this showdown is about the Supreme Court of the United States.  We simply cannot stand by and watch a minority in the Senate use a judicial filibuster to derail these well qualified nominees.  As intense as this is now, just imagine what will happen when there's a vacancy on the high court.

Even with Congress on its spring break, this is a very important time in Washington.  As the showdown nears, I will keep you posted on developments.
