Out of Touch: Vice President Harris's Aides "Panicked" Over Border Assignment
In April, America witnessed the highest number of migrants illegally crossing our Southern border in history. U.S. border patrol agents encountered 178,622 migrants during that month alone. Vice President Kamala Harris’s team has gone into panic mode as leaders on both sides of the aisle are demanding action. This panic could potentially be a result of knowing that if she were linked to the horrendous conditions at the border, it could be politically damaging to her possible future plans.
Vice President Harris was appointed back in March by President Biden to address the border crisis. Yet she hasn’t even visited the border. In fact, since she was tasked with addressing the border crisis, it has gotten worse – MUCH WORSE.
Essentially, she has limited her involvement on the border to leading diplomatic talks with Mexican and Northern Triangle leaders in order to learn the root causes behind this surge in migration. In April, of the 178,622 migrants encountered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, roughly 44% were from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. The countries where Harris is going to discuss root causes and migration to the U.S don’t even make up half of the people surging the border. She is once again out of touch with reality.
By ignoring this crisis at hand, it has also turned into a judicial crisis with a caseload of 3.2 million. Our judges simply cannot get through that high of a number of cases. So, the United States under the Biden Administration, is sitting at an all-time high for border crossings and all-time low for deportation.
To make matters even worse, President Biden has handcuffed ICE and the Border Patrol – the very people we need to stop drugs, criminals, and potential terrorists from entering our country. Deportation officers are being put on a leash so tight that some say their work is being functionally abolished. In fact, agents are saying they now spend most of their day on paperwork, working out, or doing nothing at all.
ACLJ Senior Counsel and Director of Policy Harry Hutchison explained the solution to solve this crisis:
Well first and foremost, you have to reverse virtually each and every Biden policy initiative. That’s the first step. Secondly, you have to reinstate Trump era policies, the remain in Mexico policy, Trump’s policy with respect to refugees and asylum entrants, that’s two things we should keep in mind.
Much of the blame should also be pinned on Congress. Senate Majority Leader Schumer promised to transform America, and the result we are seeing is lawlessness. As Professor Hutchison said, “I think that at the end of the day that is the biggest problem – the [Left’s] commitment to lawlessness on steroids.”
This crisis will go on to contribute to higher human trafficking, drug cartels, homicide, and all kinds of issues for Americans. We have already filed a lawsuit against the Biden Administration over the border crisis and its refusal to comply with our Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. President Biden and Vice President Harris may think this crisis will go away, but it won’t, and neither will we until we see action to address the crisis at the border. We will continue to hold this President and his Administration accountable.
