The ACLJ is officially suing the Biden Administration. This Administration has not been responsive to our FOIA requests in any capacity. We just filed a FOIA lawsuit pertaining to the Biden Administration using aborted babies’ body parts for experimentation. It’s hard to even put that into words.

As we told you, the Biden Administration’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) continues to fund this disgusting experimentation with your tax dollars. The Trump Administration took steps to curtail this practice; but within the first 100 days of taking office, President Biden has brought this horrific practice back.

This is the devastating reality of how your tax dollars are being spent. And it’s unpalatable.

During a press briefing, a reporter asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki about how the White House is responding to the criticism around funding this horrendous practice:

As you well know, the Administration just lifted the ban on researchers using fetal tissue from elective abortions. And the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, the leaders of the President’s own faith, said in reaction, “It is deeply offensive,” quote, “to millions of Americans for our tax dollars to be used for research that collaborates with an industry built on the taking of innocent lives.”

How does the White House respond to that criticism? Psaki said:

Look, I think the White House respectfully disagrees. And we believe that it’s important to invest in science and look for opportunities to cure diseases, and I think that’s what this is hopeful to do.

One of the most disturbing parts about this is that the Biden Administration and HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra have reversed the decision that all research applications proposing the use of human fetal tissue from elective abortions be reviewed by an Ethics Advisory Board. We told you how Mr. Becerra has a long track record of radical hostility towards the pro-life community. Unfortunately, this is playing out exactly how we thought it would.

Why would removing the Ethics Board be beneficial for anyone? ACLJ Director of Government Affairs Thann Bennett has an idea why:

The reason they had to abandon that review board is because they know flatly that this research is unethical. And the other reason is that there are more ethical options. But what that would entail is, they would get a recommendation from this review board and they would have to acknowledge that this type of research using fetal remains is not the most ethical option available. So, that’s why they abandoned it. They didn’t want to have to deal with the recommendations that would come back. When it comes to the Federal Government, personnel is policy. And we told people if Secretary Xavier Becerra was Secretary of HHS, then this is the type of issue we would be facing. He needs to be asked – did you consider ethics at all when you considered this decision?

Our lawsuit has officially been filed. We are taking action and will see the Biden Administration in court. We will not allow the practice of using aborted fetal tissue for experimentation. This is the most disgusting misuse of our taxpayer dollars that we’ve ever seen. On behalf of our ACLJ members who deeply value and respect life, we are seeking absolute accountability from the Biden Administration on this issue. There is no higher responsibility than defending the vulnerable.
