Surprisingly, Governor Ron DeSantis dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed President Donald Trump. Now former Governor Nikki Haley and Trump will battle in the New Hampshire primary as the race continues to be the Republican nominee against President Biden in the 2024 election. Voters will go to the polls tomorrow to cast their votes.

DeSantis had banked his campaign on winning Iowa – devoting a ton of time and resources to Iowa – only to come in roughly 30 points behind Trump. He knew he had no pathway to securing the GOP nomination and didn’t want to waste any more funds. That’s why he did the honorable thing in suspending his campaign.

Fox News reports on DeSantis’ endorsement of President Trump:

“It’s clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance. They watched his presidency get stymied by relentless resistance, and they see Democrats using lawfare to this day to attack him,” DeSantis said Sunday. “While I have had disagreements with Donald Trump, such as on the coronavirus pandemic and his elevation of [Dr.] Anthony Fauci, Trump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden. That is clear.”

DeSantis said Trump has his endorsement “because we can’t go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear – a repackaged form of warmed-over corporatism – that Nikki Haley represents.”

President Trump said he was “very honored” by DeSantis’ endorsement, so the two have begun repairing their relationship. Many have asked if DeSantis could be a possible VP pick for Trump – but they both live in Florida, and according to the Constitution, a Vice President and President cannot be from the same state.

So what are the New Hampshire polls showing after DeSantis’ decision? Right now, a Washington Post-Monmouth University poll has Trump at 52%, Haley at 34%, and DeSantis at 8%. DeSantis’ supporters are more likely to be in Trump’s

camp than Haley’s. It is likely that his wide margin will grow even more.

As we told you, the Deep State FBI has been caught yet again targeting Christians and Trump supporters. This time the FBI is looking at bank statements for transactions involving Bibles or MAGA merchandise.

ACLJ Senior Counsel and Director of Policy Harry Hutchison explained why this targeting is such a sickening violation of the First Amendment:

If you simply look at the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, it says, “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.” And so what the federal government has done in going after traditional Catholics  – in going after pro-life individuals – they have simply labeled individuals who perhaps purchase a Bible as extremists. This is unprecedented in American history. So, in effect, the U.S. government is saying if you exercise your constitutional rights, you are potentially at least an extremist. And I think the American people need to push back against this.

Well, the ACLJ is pushing back – we just filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request regarding this unlawful targeting by Biden’s Deep State. We will keep you updated – the government cannot keep targeting Christians and getting away with it.  See here and here for our other ongoing FOIA lawsuits against the Deep State’s war on religious liberty.

Finally, I want to highlight that we have a delegation from our European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ) in Spain for key meetings regarding our work to free the Israeli hostages. Today is day 107 since Hamas took the hostages, and we are still representing several of the hostages’ families. This is an important week in our ongoing efforts to defend Israel on the world stage.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of how DeSantis’ ending his campaign will affect the New Hampshire primary race. We also discussed our latest FOIA against the Biden Administration for unlawfully targeting Christians and Trump supporters. ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell made predictions for the New Hampshire primary race.
