Judge Sets a Hearing on Unsealed Trump Raid Documents

A federal judge has just set a hearing on potentially unsealing the affidavit which ultimately authorized the raid on President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.

But before you celebrate too quickly, this is the same judge who we told you recused himself from a lawsuit filed by President Trump against Hillary Clinton because of his admitted anti-Trump bias. This judge should be recused from this case as well, but tomorrow he will hold a hearing on unsealing the affidavit, as well as some other documents relating to the Mar-a-Lago search warrant.

As we reported, President Trump has publicly demanded that these documents be unsealed and revealed to the public. So if they are not unsealed, you know who to blame – the Left. The Biden Department of Justice is desperate to stop the unsealing, it claims because of an "ongoing criminal investigation" that could be compromised by their unsealing.

Maybe that is the real reason. I’m not so sure. I wonder if the real reason they don’t want the affidavit revealed is that it may show they had nothing, and this raid was little more than just a fishing expedition. It was a shot in the dark hoping they’d get lucky, because the radical Left is terrified that the former President might run again and win. After all, the majority of the candidates that President Trump has endorsed have won their primaries. Perhaps the Biden Administration is finally seeing that the tide is turning away from them.

Even incumbent Congresswoman Liz Cheney, who has vocally criticized and attacked President Trump and is currently Vice Chair of the House January 6th committee, lost her primary and her seat in the House, despite the Left championing her, and despite her Republican status, because she turned on her party and on President Trump. The American people are speaking, and they’re sick of what they’ve been seeing for two years.

Now it seems to me that the judge is in a difficult position because if he releases the affidavit and there’s no “there” there, as we suspect and he may as well, then the Biden DOJ looks bad. They look biased, which they are. They look corrupt, which they are. They look exposed, which they need to be. But at this point, with so many people already up in arms over the raid in the first place, ruling against unsealing the documents might look like a coverup. That’s why I think we should all manage our expectations. What is most likely to happen is something will be released, but it will be so heavily redacted it will be useless.

I asked ACLJ Senior Counsel Andy Ekonomou what he thinks we might find out in that affidavit. As Andy explained:

If anything is released, it’s going to be a piece of paper with black magic marker all over it, redacting everything that is juicy and good and interesting and that would be helpful to the former President. The names of the Confidential Informant (C.I.) would be redacted. The allegations of details with respect to the investigation would be redacted. You’re going to get what we get when we do FOIA requests, a bunch of black pieces of paper with everything redacted. So don’t expect some great revelation coming to the general public or to the former President out of this hearing tomorrow. It’s just not going to happen.

Unfortunately, I think Andy’s prediction is likely to come true. But if we do happen to see the affidavit, I would caution our members DO NOT be shocked if it says nasty things about President Trump. It’s going to. It has to. The Left will use every accusation they can think of to get to the former President. No matter what they do redact, I’m sure the Left would love for the world to see what disgusting accusations it can hurl at President Trump to justify its agenda. But that doesn’t mean it’s accurate, or that they have a scrap of evidence. If they did, why would they need the raid?

This affidavit was most likely a ruse to justify a political raid they hoped would reveal something incriminating. They just needed a veneer of authority, so they sought a magistrate that already had an anti-Trump bias. We’ll keep a close eye on tomorrow’s hearing and keep you updated.
