Abortion: Empowerment or Exploitation?

“I am woman, hear me roar!”

The mantra of the western feminist elite is representative of an idea that has led to the end of tens of millions of lives in the United States and countless more around the globe.

Though this slogan was intended to be a rallying call for female empowerment, it has accomplished everything but that.

The American Suffragettes fought hard for a cause that would mean the elevation of women to full members of society through the right to vote, but modern progressive feminism has degraded those efforts through shamelessly promoting abortion on demand.

What is it about abortion that supposedly makes women more equal members of society, according to the pro-abortion left?  The answer can’t be anything other than complete control over one’s sexuality.

According to modern feminists, women are powerless without abortion.  Men have traipsed around for hundreds of years, indiscriminately procreating with whomever they please without responsibility.  So in order to be properly empowered, women must have the “right” to act just as recklessly.

The more the modern feminist movement has “progressed,” the more reckless and indiscriminate their demands have become.  Instead of abortion being “safe, legal, and rare,” abortion must be on demand, whenever you want, and for whatever reason.  Without apology.

Are you pregnant with a son when you really want a daughter?  Abort.  Are you unhappy with the race of the baby?  Abort.  Could your child potentially have a mental or physical disability?  Abort.

It’s devastating.  It’s tragic.

But, there is hypocrisy in the ranks of this movement.

China’s One-Child Policy forbade couples from bringing more than one child into the world.  Before sonogram technology was developed, the enactment of this law led to a spike in female infanticide and child abandonment as Chinese culture favors male children over female.  And once sonograms became available, it led to an astronomical number of gender-based abortions

The policy has now been repealed, but the devastation remains.

Pro-abortion world organizations claiming to be empowering women decry “gender-biased sex selection” as “a form of discrimination,” yet in the United States, similar groups are pushing sex-selective abortion as part of a woman’s right to choose.

So which is it?  Discrimination or empowerment?

Should a woman be able to kill her daughter because she’d prefer a son, or should a girl child have the right to life because of what she’d contribute to the society she’d be born into?

It can’t be both.

As a woman, I am grateful for what the Suffragettes accomplished, but this modern view is not about female empowerment.  It’s about exploitation.

The once radical leaders of the early feminist movement are now viewed as a great disgrace as Suffragettes such as Susan B. Anthony referred to abortion as “the ultimate exploitation of women.”

Anthony was right.  Abortion does not empower.  Abortion exploits vulnerable women for profit and destroys the dignity of human life.  Abortion is a lie.

Radical pro-abortion groups in America are pushing to invalidate an Indiana law that would prevent gender-based—as well as race-based and disability-based—abortions.

And what’s more, these groups are even demanding that your hard-earned tax dollars fund the abhorrent practice of abortion.

Here at the ACLJ we’re fighting back.  Join the fight to protect women and children from the destruction of abortion.  Our mothers and daughters deserve better.  Please sign our petition.
