If there is any question as to why Planned Parenthood is actively promoting President Obama, the answer is simply this: President Obama has done more for Planned Parenthood and their pro-abortion agenda in his nearly 4 years in office than almost anyone.
The abortion giant’s president, Cecile Richards, said of Obama, “I’ve been working with this administration for the last three years on getting women better health care access [i.e. abortion, abortion funding, and mandated abortion-pill coverage] in a whole host of ways.”
Time and time again, President Obama has not only stood with Planned Parenthood, he has done everything within his power to advance their cause. As he once famously stated of abortion, "On this fundamental issue, I will not yield and Planned Parenthood will not yield."
Time and time again, President Obama has come to the aid of the largest abortion provider in America. Here are just a few examples:
One of President Obama’s first acts as President was to overturn the Mexico City Policy, which had prevented taxpayer dollars from funding foreign abortions. Planned Parenthood is now a major recipient of these funds.
President Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) imposed the abortion-pill mandate, forcing employers to cover abortion pills in their health insurance plans. Interestingly, Planned Parenthood dispenses more than 1.4 million of these abortion pills each year.
And who was at the table when President Obama crafted the HHS mandate and subsequent religious liberty “accommodation,” Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry – not religious leaders.
President Obama has also imposed a monthly abortion surcharge on American’s health insurance plans, from which the largest provider of abortions in America stands to gain.
When Planned Parenthood was backed into a corner after being exposed supporting sex selection abortions, President Obama came to their aid and helped kill a bill in Congress that would have outlawed this horrific act.
The strongest examples of President Obama’s unwavering support of Planned Parenthood can be seen through the extreme steps his Administration has taken to ensure that Planned Parenthood does not lose a dime of its taxpayer funding.
Every time Congress has considered cutting spending by defunding the half billion dollars a year Planned Parenthood receives from taxpayers, President Obama has threatened to veto the measures, even if it meant shutting down the federal government.
Even more extreme, he has not only taken a side in how states should choose to spend their own money, but he has gone against the express will of the people in those states to ensure that Planned Parenthood remains fully funded. Consider this analysis from LifeNews.com:
Indiana: The Obama Administration threatened to pull $4.3 billion in Medicaid funding from the state after the legislature voted to defund Planned Parenthood. (June 2011)
New Hampshire: The Obama Administration contracted directly with Planned Parenthood after the state’s elected Executive Council voted to defund Planned Parenthood. (September 2011)
Texas: The Obama Administration pulled $30 million in Medicaid waiver funds from Texas after the state legislature voted to defund Planned Parenthood from the waiver program. (March 2012)
Tennessee: The Obama Administration bypassed elected officials in Tennessee and contracted directly with Planned Parenthood after they were defunded by the state. (July 2012)
Just this week, when New Jersey Governor Chris Christie refused to fund Planned Parenthood, the Obama Administration quickly awarded Planned Parenthood affiliates in New Jersey $3.1 million dollars in federal taxpayer money.
To Planned Parenthood, President Obama is not just a friend in the White House; he is their “champion” for the pro-abortion agenda.
I’ve been following and writing about this case since it was being considered in the Texas legislature. Now it’s being called “ biggest abortion case at the Supreme Court in nearly 25 years.” Last night the Supreme Court temporarily blocked a pro-life Texas law from going into effect, allowing the...
This afternoon, the Supreme Court of the United States ordered to stay the Fifth Circuit’s ruling upholding the common-sense abortion restrictions passed by Texas in 2013. In a 5-4 vote with Chief Justice Roberts, Justice Scalia, Justice Thomas, and Justice Alito dissenting, the Court granted the...
In a huge victory for life this week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell promised to bring the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act up for a vote in the Senate by the end of 2015. This is a historic moment as a bill that would ban horrific late-term abortions has never before received a...
Earlier this year, an attack on a pregnant woman in Colorado that ended with the death of her unborn baby – but no charges filed for the baby’s murder – has reminded us of an often-overlooked area in the right to life battle. The American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) has been on the forefront of...
