Standing with Israel as Palestinian Terror Intensifies
In the wake of Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas’ United Nations address in which he announced Palestine’s repudiation of the Oslo Accords, violence has broken out in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
With Palestine’s abandonment of the Oslo Accords, the set of agreements between Palestine and Israel which outline the process to long-term peace, Israeli officials fear that a third intifada, or jihadist war, may have just begun.
The demonstrations and clashes in the West Bank are part of the latest wave of violence, which began on Thursday when Palestinian gunmen killed a Jewish couple near a settlement in the occupied West Bank, leaving their young children orphans.
Two days later, a Palestinian teenager fatally stabbed two ultra-Orthodox Jewish men in the Old City of Jerusalem. The attacker, a 19-year-old identified as Muhanad Halabi, was shot dead.
Hours later, a Palestinian man from a Jerusalem neighborhood stabbed and wounded a 15-year-old Jewish boy. The man, identified as Fadi Alon, 21, was shot and killed by the police.
The latest reports out of Jerusalem state that 5 members of the jihadist terrorist group Hamas have confessed to the brutal murder of the West Bank couple, which occurred while their four young children watched from the backseat of the car.
Abbas claims that he desires peace, saying, "We tell them (the Israelis) that we do not want either military or security escalation. All our instructions to our (security) agencies, our factions and our youth have been that we do not want escalation."
Yet the violence continues to intensify – a direct result of Abbas’ reckless repudiation of decades-long peace agreements.
And just today, the Associated Press reported that documents have been uncovered confirming that PA officials have actually paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to prisoners convicted of terrorist attacks on Israelis. The Jerusalem Post has more:
According to the documents obtained by Israel Radio, most of those receiving PA money are members of Hamas who were behind some of the bloodiest terror attacks in Israeli history, from the second intifada.
Those receiving these PA "salaries" are all serving time in maximum-security prisons for the crimes they committed.
One of the documents showed that Abdullah Barghouti, a Hamas bomb maker serving 67 life sentences, has so far received more than NIS 250,000 (almost $66,000).
So if Abbas and the Palestinian Authority truly want peace, then why are there Hamas terrorists on their payroll?
For all of their international grandstanding, the PA continues to work alongside Hamas in a unity government with one goal – the elimination of Israel and Jewish people around the world.
The Palestinian Authority cannot seek peace as long as they are united with Hamas whose stated purpose is to eradicate all Jewish people from the earth.
This is why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has responded to what he calls a new “wave of terror” by increasing anti-terror operations in Jerusalem and the West Bank. Israeli forces have also demolished the homes of two known Palestinian terrorists and sealed off the home of a third terrorist in an attempt to deter future terrorist attacks.
Yet, in the wake of the terrorist-led PA’s repudiation of peace, a resurgence of jihadist violence, and the shocking revelations that PA money is being paid to terrorists, the Obama Administration continues to send hundreds of millions of your tax dollars to the terrorist-led PA.
That’s right, your tax dollars are funding the PA as it pays terrorists. Our tax dollars should never be blood money for terror.
This is why we are working on Capitol Hill to ensure the U.S. government no longer sends $400 million per year to the Palestinian Authority.
This is why it’s more important than ever before to stand with Israel on the world’s stage as the enemies of freedom try whatever it takes to annihilate them.
