This is the latest installment in a year-end series looking back at a few of the many victories by the ACLJ in 2016.

Attempts to delegitimize the State of Israel have grown rapidly – in the United States and beyond. Jewish students, professors, and Christians who support Israel are shunned, bullied, and at times viciously attacked. It’s reprehensible.

At the ACLJ, we believe it is America’s duty to stand and fight for our greatest ally in the Middle East. This year alone we fought in numerous cases in the U.S. and we continue to expand the scope of our work to defend Israel from anti-Semitic attacks worldwide.

In March, one of our clients – a professor at the University of Texas and Director of the Institute for Israel Studies – was cleared of any wrongdoing after a student disrupted an event our client was hosting. The student had the audacity to file a complaint with the university – which was unsurprisingly rejected.

Then, in May, we co-sponsored the largest ever global conference standing up for Israel at the United Nations. Our sole purpose was to educate and equip Ambassadors, lawyers, judges, and academics from around the world and put them in a better position to combat anti-Israel hate.

Later that same month, we called on Chancellor James Milliken of the City University of New York to conduct thorough investigations of all reported anti-Semitism and to “implement disciplinary measures where appropriate.” Chancellor Milliken fully agreed with the ACLJ “that CUNY has an obligation to respond to unlawful discrimination by its employees or students.”

We’re aggressively engaged in federal court, at the United Nations, and on Capitol Hill to defend Israel’s legitimacy and stop these vicious and continually evolving attacks. And it’s your support that enables us to fight. Make no mistake: By defending our clients against anti-Semitic attacks, we are defending Israel and the Israeli people.
