ACLJ Expands International Outreach to South Korea

(Washington, D.C.) - The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), which focuses on U.S. and international law, has announced it has formed a partnership with Handong International Law School in South Korea - a program designed to provide both education and training for law students in U.S. and international law.

"It is clear that there's a growing need for skilled attorneys around the globe who can engage and protect religious liberty," said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ.  "At a time when Christians face increasing discrimination, violence, and even death for practicing their faith, it's critical to provide training and experience for the next generation of defenders - attorneys committed to protecting religious freedom.  This partnership with Handong International Law School is encouraging and sets the stage for a new and exciting outreach for the ACLJ and our international affiliates."

In addition to providing educational and training opportunities for law students at Handong International Law School in Pohang, South Korea, the ACLJ provides training and experience for law students at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.

Since its inception more than 20 years ago, the ACLJ understood that religious freedom is an international right, a global concern.

Over the years, the ACLJ has expanded its work around the world.  Sekulow founded the European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ) - based in Strasbourg, France - the seat of the European Court of Human Rights.  He serves as Chief Counsel of the ECLJ and has opened offices around the world in the following countries: France, Russia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Pakistan and Israel. 

Sekulow says the office in South Korea will enable the ACLJ to begin working in Asia, one of the fastest growing continents in the world. 

"The South Korea office is a great addition to the ACLJ and in addition to providing critical educational and training opportunities for law students, it serves as another strategic location for defending clients around the globe." said Sekulow.
