President Joe Biden’s head of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Chris Magnus has been essentially forced to quit, or else be fired. At first Magnus said he was not going to resign, despite the ultimatum from above. But it has since been announced that Magnus has resigned from his position.

As it was reported today:

Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Chris Magnus, who has clashed with immigration officials over how to handle an influx of migrants at the southern border, has lost the confidence of his bosses and has been asked to resign or be fired, according to three current and one former Department of Homeland Security officials.

Magnus was told on Wednesday by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas that he should either resign or be dismissed and, so far, the CBP chief has refused to step down, according to the four people.

The reality here is, it should be DHS Chief Mayorkas who should be losing his job, not just some underling. And even if Magnus should resign or be fired, he is only one of many. In fact, just the very idea that it took this long for him to be removed is absurd, even after 15,000 lbs. of fentanyl – enough to kill every man, woman, and child in the U.S. ten times over – were confiscated coming across the border. Let that sink in for a moment. Those pills literally represent the complete end of life in America. Kids are dying from this evil poison without even actually intentionally taking it. In some cases, simply touching it has killed people. Yet he wasn’t fired for that.

And some 98 known terrorists have been captured sneaking into our country from Mexico. Magnus wasn’t fired in those instances. Why now? Is this just a show? Or is there something more nefarious in play here? There’s been some speculation that the Biden Administration wants him out of the way before he could be called before a congressional committee at some point. But he still can and will be called to testify. In the meantime though, Mayorkas can install a new CBP Chief who could only report what his predecessor had done, with no culpability. Whatever the reason, after all he was certainly bad at his job, Magnus is clearly being hung out there as the fall guy, the scapegoat. Not only should Alejandro Mayorkas resign or be fired at once, but Vice President Harris should at very least no longer be in charge of handling the border, given the complete lack of any demonstrable effort to do pretty much anything. It’s ridiculous. Do your jobs.

And it’s worth noting that now, almost a week later, we still don’t have definitive results from last Tuesday’s midterm elections. While the Democrats certainly appear to have retained control of the U.S. Senate, it looks like the Republicans will be taking control of the House of Representatives by a slim margin, though control of the House has still not been called. Someone needs to hold the Biden Administration accountable for its continued failings. Especially when those failings create a direct threat to our national security.

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes more discussion of this shakeup at the Biden CBP. We are also joined by ACLJ Special Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy – former U.S. Acting Director for National Intelligence – Ric Grenell to discuss President Biden’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping where he once again showed weakness and submission before an adversarial foreign power. He didn’t even bring up COVID.
