Censoring Conservatives’ Free Speech in Biden’s Brave New World
The Left is waging a war to silence conservatives and Christians. It’s like something straight out of a dystopian novel.
Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World depicts a terrifying future where the World State exerts total control over every aspect of life – one such method is censorship. In a chilling scene, the World Controller pulls a Bible out of a safe, which had long been removed from society because of its “old-fashioned” notions of God and sin. He also asserts that no one should ever be exposed to the truth and virtue found in the works of Shakespeare.
In other words, the World State gets to decide what information is permissible to be consumed and which must be censored. Does this sound eerily familiar in America in 2024?
In the last ten years or so, the federal government started recognizing the power of social media as an arbiter of information. So when the 2020 presidential election rolled around, we witnessed blatant election interference on a scale unseen before in U.S. history. As has now been confirmed, the FBI colluded with Facebook to censor the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story prior to the election.
Unfortunately for the Deep State, Mark Zuckerberg spilled the beans on Joe Rogan’s podcast about how Facebook’s algorithm and crack-shot “fact-checkers” quashed the story that most certainly could have swayed voters. And of course, the DOJ has been covering its tracks and protecting Hunter ever since being caught red-handed.
The ACLJ filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the FBI when its collusion with Big Tech was exposed. Our FOIA recently revealed that the FBI considers private social media “its most valuable asset.”
And why shouldn’t the FBI enjoy teaming up with Zuckerberg? Meta reportedly “has some 40,000 people working on safety and security and has spent more than $20 billion on those efforts since 2016.” You can probably guess what qualifies as “safety and security.”
We also know that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) launched a full-scale attack on conservatives’ social media following the collapse of the Russian hoax narrative. It began targeting what it deemed to be “misinformation,” i.e., conservative viewpoints. It pressured social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to censor posts that didn’t align with their agenda.
Big Tech’s throttling of conservatives during 2020 caught the attention of Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk, who noticed that his messaging was failing to reach his followers. Prior, he was typically retweeted up to 140k times a day.
But then the numbers decreased dramatically in the days leading up to Biden’s election. And during the week of the election, Twitter locked Kirk out of his account altogether – because he sounded the alarm about Hunter’s laptop.

Of course, Kirk’s organization wasn’t the only conservative entity silenced. Big Tech and DHS also censored the Heritage Foundation, CBN, Fox News, and many more. And that doesn’t include the innumerable everyday men and women trying to express their views online.
The ACLJ is fighting against the Biden Administration for violating conservatives’ First Amendment rights. We just filed a Supreme Court amicus brief in our efforts to stop President Biden from silencing his opponents, representing Kirk and Turning Point USA. Our fight is far from over.
And now we find ourselves in yet another election season, even as the embers of controversy from four years ago still smolder. Undoubtedly, Big Tech and the federal government will be in cahoots again to censor information it considers “dangerous” to the masses. The hope is that conservatives learned their lessons from the last election cycle and will be better prepared to keep their free speech from being suppressed. And don’t doubt for a moment that the ACLJ will be ready to expose any unconstitutional censorship.
One final note about Brave New World: The title comes from Shakespeare’s The Tempest, in which the character Miranda grows up on an island and knows nothing of the outside world. One day, a ship lands and she sees men disembarking. Excited about the possibilities, she naively proclaims: “How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world, / That has such people in’t.”
But in Biden’s Brave New World, federal agents and Big Tech cronies are showing up to censor your free speech. Don’t be naive like Miranda – this is a world you don’t want any part of.
