9/11: A Day of Remembrance
Thirteen years ago today, jihadists attacked America - bringing unimaginable horror and pain to the homeland.
On this anniversary of the attacks of September 11th, our prayers are with all who lost loved ones that fateful day.
As a nation we must never forget what happened that day - those who lost their lives - and the many heroes who gave their lives so others would live.
This a time for tributes. And there are many underway across the nation.
In New York last night, a powerful and moving scene as two brilliant beams of light were powered-up - marking the spot where the Twin Towers once stood.
And, today, the annual ritual to honor the thousands of people died on September 11th. The names of the victims are read aloud.
One of the first to read the names - Diane Massaroli - paid tribute to her husband, Michael: "We love you, we miss you and not a day goes by that we don't think of you."
Before September 11, 2001, no one really believed that radical jihadists would strike America - especially in such a coordinated and devastating manner.
Now, thirteen years later, most Americans think that may happen again.
The concern this time - ISIS - the Islamic State. In fact, a new poll reveals that more than three-quarters of voters think ISIS is planning an attack on U.S. soil.
We know that these jihadists want to target America - to attack our freedoms - our way of life
We can’t let that happen. We must pursue and destroy those who want to kill us.
On this day marking the horrible terrorist attacks that took place in New York, Washington, and in Pennsylvania, our prayers are also with our nation's leaders - who must be unshakeable in the pursuit and defeat of the jihadists. Our leaders must be unwavering in their commitment to protect the homeland.
Americans deserve nothing less.
