The Left is already launching disgusting attacks on Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s family and her religion.

On today’s Jay Sekulow Live, we discussed President Trump’s nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court. Even before she was officially nominated, the far Left began sickening attacks on her faith and her family.

It’s pathetic, but when they have no basis to attack a qualified nominee, this is what the far Left does.

Judge Amy Coney Barrett said the following at her Supreme Court nomination announcement at the White House:

I fully understand that this is a momentous decision for a President. And if the Senate does me, the honor of confirming me, I pledge to discharge the responsibilities of this job to the very best of my ability. I love the United States and I love the United States Constitution.

Judge Barrett continued:

I clerked for Justice Scalia more 20 years ago, but the lessons I learned still resonate. His judicial philosophy is mine too, a judge must apply the law as written. Judges are not policymakers and they must be resolute in setting aside any policy views they might hold.

I think Judge Amy Coney Barrett said exactly what you need to know right there. She is a common-sense constitutional jurist, and the Left already understands that, which is why the attacks on her are so nasty.

The fact is, President Trump has made a great choice, nominating her to be the next Associate Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. The President had previously appointed Judge Barrett to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. She was formerly a professor of law at Notre Dame. This is someone who has a long academic background and, of course, has the necessary judicial experience.

The Senate confirmation process should move pretty quickly, but it’s not going to start for a few weeks. The Senate Judiciary Committee process is going to start October 12th but Senator Graham said he wants to wrap it up by October 22nd with only two days of questioning. In the meantime she’ll be meeting with Senators and we can expect the attacks to continue. Now, some Democrats are saying that they won’t meet with her at all, and to that I say that’s great. Don’t waste any more time. Especially given how nasty they were to her when she was confirmed to the 7th Circuit.

There’s a war going on to confirm the next justice to the U.S. Supreme Court and rather than focus on disagreements on her record, the far Left is attacking Judge Amy Coney Barrett for her religious faith and making disgusting attacks on her family. Some have questioned her ability to be a dedicated jurist and also a good mother. Others have even gone so far as to imply, if not outright accuse that she is somehow racist for adopting children from Haiti. That very assertion is offensive to all decent people. But again, that’s what the Left does when it knows it has nothing of substance in its quiver.
