This week, the Supreme Court confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee for Judge Neil Gorsuch of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit represent a critical time for the Supreme Court and our nation.
Judge Gorsuch is exceedingly qualified to fill the seat of the late Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court. Judge Gorsuch embraces the Constitution and the rule of law. Obstructionists are vowing to oppose this nominee because of his conservative judicial philosophy. It is time for this confirmation process to move forward, and we’re calling on the Senate to confirm Judge Gorsuch without delay.
As the confirmation hearings begin, we are taking direct action on Capitol Hill and on the airwaves this week to communicate one simple message – Judge Gorsuch must be swiftly confirmed.
We sent a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee with our comprehensive analysis detailing the qualifications of Judge Gorsuch to serve as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. We filed our analysis with the Committee and asked that it be a part of their formal consideration.
As our letter to the Senate stated:
We write today for the purpose of sharing our analysis of the qualifications of Neil M. Gorsuch to serve as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. This analysis, attached for your review, demonstrates that Judge Gorsuch is impeccably qualified by every standard. As such, we recommend that he be swiftly reported out of committee and promptly confirmed by the full United States Senate.
We are heartened that the American Bar Association has arrived at a similar conclusion—that Judge Gorsuch is “well qualified” to serve on our nation’s highest court. We are confident the testimony you will hear this week will further affirm this conclusion.

As many U.S. Senators, former law clerks, and many other legal scholars from across the political spectrum have confirmed, Judge Neil Gorsuch is the epitome of what we should all want in a Supreme Court justice. He will uphold the Constitution, the rule of law, and the proper role of the judiciary in our republic.
Judge Gorsuch was approved by a voice vote by the U.S. Senate when he was appointed to the federal appeals court by President George W. Bush. That’s why the ACLJ has launched a national advocacy campaign to support for the confirmation of Judge Gorsuch. We will not cease our advocacy until he is confirmed to fill the late Justice Scalia’s seat.
Nearly 130,000 people have signed on to our petition demanding his confirmation. Join our fight today.
