Radical Left

This flirtation with socialism, and the flirtation with radicalization within Islam is very dangerous to a constitutional republic.

On Today’s show we discussed the rise of the new socialist radical Left movement, the nation of Islam, and their relationship with the U.S. Congress – specifically some of the newer and more radical members of the Democratic party.

Socialism is not a new idea, but it has been refurbished and repackaged to look more appealing in recent times. Part of the makeover is seen in legislation proposed by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the Green New Deal. Last week in a blog post, Professor Harry Hutchison outlined a 5-point plan to combat the Radical lefts new socialist agenda. The American people must be vigilant regarding these new ideas and see that this is where one of the major political parties in the U.S. is heading.

We discussed Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan’s comments telling Congresswoman Ilhan Omar not to apologize for her anti-Semitic comments. He said of Ms. Omar, “Ms. Omar started talking about the Benjamins, and they’re trying to make her apologize, well sweetheart don’t do that. Pardon me for calling you a sweetheart, but you do have a sweet heart. You sure are using it to shake the government up, but you have nothing to apologize for.”

Congresswoman Omar will be one of the keynote speakers at the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Annual Banquet. CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land case. She has said that, “from the first day she arrived in America, it was not the golden land she had heard about.” It is dangerous rhetoric for a sitting U.S. Congresswoman to imply that this land where opportunity and freedom abound is not the golden land she heard of.

We must not ignore her hatred of the Jewish people, including her chiding of Jewish American hero Elliot Abrams, who is now serving as the U.S. envoy to Venezuela. Congresswoman Omar and others on the Left are ignoring Maduro’s campaign of violence and starvation of his own people but will go to great lengths to attack people like Elliott Abrams, who has devoted much of his life to American public service. As Andy Ekonomou said, “this tells me that we’ve reached a new low in the U.S. Congress, it is truly despicable behavior.” The House leadership must act on this kind of behavior and not allow her to sit on the Foreign Affairs committee, which receives classified briefings.

We also discussed on the broadcast President Trump’s speech yesterday in Miami on Venezuela. He said, “In Venezuela and across western hemisphere, socialism is dying and liberty prosperity and democracy are being reborn. . . . Socialism promises prosperity but it delivers poverty . . . it is a sad and discredited ideology rooted in the ignorance of history and human nature.” There are many members in the new Left who are aligning with these anti-western ideals and sentiments. They are moving further to the Left and alienating more independent voters. It is crucial that the American voters take note of this behavior and not allow it to sneak into our culture and society.
