Attorney General Barr had something to say about mail-in voting on CNN. He called it “playing with fire.”

On today’s Jay Sekulow Live/The Logan Sekulow ReProgram, we talked about Attorney General Barr’s appearance on CNN with Wolf Blitzer. The Attorney General warned about the dangers of mass mail-in voting, saying “This is playing with fire.” We also talked about Governor Cuomo’s apparent threat to President Trump.

The Attorney General sat down with Wolf Blitzer on CNN last night. Whenever they have these sit downs on CNN, I have to wonder, what’s the endgame here? It feels like you’re going into enemy territory and seems doubtful that you’ll ever get a fair shake. It always feels like it’s going to go wrong. However, the Attorney General is a talented public speaker and it ultimately went fairly well. In fact, it was good to watch. Wolf get significant pushback from Attorney General Barr.

Here’s an excerpt of what Attorney General Barr said to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer:

Wolf, this is playing with fire; this is playing with fire. We're a very closely divided country here. And people have to have confidence in the results of the election and the legitimacy of the government. And people trying to change the rules to this methodology, which, as a matter of logic, is very open to fraud and coercion, is reckless and dangerous. And people are playing with fire.

My co-host, Will Haynes gave his take on Attorney General Barr’s appearance on CNN:

With this, he showed you how important it is by giving a little bit of aggression back at Wolf Blitzer who was being not the kindest with his questioning. I thought it was interesting. It was very reassuring to see the Attorney General taking it seriously and show its playing with fire.

This is a discussion we’ve had before on the show. Personally, I’ve come around. When they first starting talking about mail-in voting, I thought, I’ve absentee voted in my life when I was in college and I didn’t live in town; and I thought, what’s the big deal? I’ve done it multiple times. But now, as the issues with the USPS have become more and more apparent, and the potential for mistakes, or outright fraud have become more known, I have to agree with the Attorney General. This is playing with fire.

We also talked about Governor Andrew Cuomo’s seemingly threatening comments about President Trump, regarding what might happen if the President ever comes back to New York City. It’s pretty astounding that on a media call, Governor Cuomo brazenly said:

He can’t come back to New York. He can’t. He’s going to walk down the street in New York? Forget bodyguards; he better have an army. He couldn’t step foot in New York City.

If the roles were reversed, the media would be up in arms, and it would be the top story, but it’s not. In fact they’re downplaying the Governor’s comments. Even Cuomo back-pedaled his tough-guy talk, saying what he meant was the President was persona non grata in New York. And really, even that is a statement he’s not really qualified to make on behalf of the entire city or state. Either way it’s definitely inappropriate, if not worse.

The full broadcast is complete with a lot more in-depth discussion about Attorney General Barr’s appearance on CNN, Governor Cuomo’s threatening language towards President Trump, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s trip to get a haircut.
