President Biden Sends Letter to Dems, Refusing To Leave White House

President Joe Biden isn’t planning on going anywhere, as many within the Democrat Party call for him not to run for reelection. Today he wrote a letter to Democrats in the House of Representatives calling for unity in the fight to defeat President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

In other words, the Biden bonanza of the past week is still in full swing as the President tries his best to convince those in his party that he should remain the nominee. More than likely, Republicans are hoping he remains in the race because he could be an easier opponent to defeat.

Today’s letter was likely motivated by the fallout from Biden’s interview on Friday with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, in which the journalist asked what it would take for Biden to step aside from the presidential election. During the interview, Biden was adamant that he was staying put unless “the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get out the race.’” Biden also claimed his party’s leadership told him to keep running.

Within today’s two-page letter to his party’s lawmakers, President Biden wrote:

I want you to know that despite all the speculation in the press and elsewhere, I am firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this race to the end, and to beating Donald Trump.

I have had extensive conversations with the leadership of the party, elected officials, rank and file members, and most importantly, Democratic voters over the past 10 days or so. . . .

It is time to come together, move forward as a unified party, and defeat Donald Trump.

The entire letter is pretty intense. Biden is emphatic that he will remain the nominee, listing all his accomplishments.

Clearly, the pressure is mounting on the Biden campaign. They’ve seen the polling data and the news of division growing within the Democrat Party. In my lifetime, I’ve never seen such an aggressive movement by a party to remove its own sitting President.

I see this letter as desperation. Biden is saying listen, I’ve got the delegates under DNC rule, and those delegates are bound to vote for me unless there was some kind of revolt. And when we look at a revolt, could all those delegates actually be dispelled from the DNC if they were to vote for someone else other than Joe Biden because they are bound delegates?

One of the reasons that many in Biden’s party still support his nomination for President is because of Vice President Kamala Harris’ unpopularity. They don’t believe she would have a chance in a general election.

Ironically, the Republican Party is even more unified despite President Trump’s legal issues. Most voters in the party have recognized the political prosecution that Trump has suffered and have rallied around him.

Couple this unified support with the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling last week on presidential immunity, and it’s been a really good week for Trump and his legal team. As we’ve pointed out, the high Court’s declaration that Presidents have full immunity is likely a death blow to the ongoing cases against Trump. It could also even result in overturning Trump’s conviction in the New York trial.

Will President Biden survive this media blitz? Soon, a decision will be made, and the Democrat Party might have no choice but to embrace President Biden once again, throwing their full support behind him.
