The fix is in. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has begun rejecting witnesses that have been requested by the Minority on the Committee, including rejecting the request for the “whistleblower” to testify.

On today’s show we discussed Adam Schiff’s rejection of relevant witnesses and the lead up to this week’s public hearings.

Senator Lindsey Graham had the following take on Fox News:

This is not about Schiff finding the truth, this is about Schiff trying to destroy the Trump presidency.

When you find out who the whistleblower is, I’m confident you’re going to find out it’s somebody from the deep state, you’re going to find out that they had interactions with Schiff, and this thing is going to stink to high heaven. And the only reason we don’t know who the whistleblower is, is that it hurts their cause.

This rejection is a reversal from Adam Schiff, who had said originally in September regarding testimony from the “whistleblower”: “We have an agreement that he or she will testify, yes.”

Schiff decided a few days after that interview that he doesn’t want the “whistleblower” to testify, as he said last month:

Given that we already have the call record, we don't need the whistleblower who wasn't on the call to tell us what took place during the call. We have the best evidence of that. We do want to make sure that we identify other evidence that is pertinent to the withholding of the military support, the effort to cover this up by hiding this in a classified computer system. We want to make sure that we uncover the full details about the conditionality of either the military aid or that meeting with Ukraine's president. It may not be necessary to take steps that might reveal the whistleblower's identity to do that. And we're going to make sure we protect that whistleblower.

We’ve talked a lot about the “cake being baked” in regards to these public hearings. They are public in the sense that Republicans are going to ask questions of the witnesses picked by Adam Schiff.

So far, we have three witnesses called by the Democrats: Bill Taylor, who was the chargé d'affaires to Ukraine for the Department of State. George Kent, Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs is also testifying. Lastly, Marie Yovanovitch the fired former Ambassador to the Ukraine will be testifying on Friday.

Adam Schiff gave Republicans two days to put together a list of who they’d like to testify and why. Republicans answered, and he’s already rejecting some of the key people, like the “whistleblower” and people who gave information to the “whistleblower”.

Schiff is calling the witnesses that he thinks will fit his narrative while rejecting the Republican ones that don’t. ACLJ Director of Government Affairs Thann Bennett said it perfectly: “If that’s not a double standard I don’t know what is.”

We’ll keep you updated as these sham hearings get under way this week.
