Negotiations on Phase 3 of the stimulus package in response to the Coronavirus continue in Washington, DC.

On today’s Jay Sekulow Live we discussed Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s anti-American power grab made through her proposed stimulus plan.

It’s yet another day of the U.S. Senate or the House of Representatives not being able to do its job. I had a unique experience because I had to spend three exciting weeks on the floor of the United States Senate. I had to deal with managers from the House of Representatives.

The country is really hurting. We need to get relief quickly. The American people are owed and deserve this. They deserve a functioning government. They deserve relief.

So what does Speaker Pelosi do? In what I describe as an anti-American power move, Speaker Pelosi held a meeting with two hundred of her lawmakers and what comes out of that meeting is hundreds of pages of ridiculous add-ons to the stimulus bill that have nothing to do with the COVID-19 pandemic or the economic crisis that we are now facing.

Remember what her majority whip said, “This is a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.” So it goes back to Rahm Emmanuel’s “Never let a good crisis go to waste.”

Basically, they’ve got everything in here they’ve ever wanted but couldn’t get, including things that are just unbelievable.

ACLJ Director of Government Affairs Thann Bennett made the following point:

Airline fuel efficiency standards are in there, portions from the Green New Deal. A bailout for the Kennedy Center, a bunch of money for the National Endowment for the Humanities, state control stripped away by the federal government for election rules; basically it’s a wish list from her committees of policy ideas. That vast majority of which do not have anything to do with the Coronavirus pandemic.

There are about three hundred and fifty pages added to this that were added in the middle of the night last night. I found out about them when I woke up in the middle of the night.

We have a team of our ACLJ lawyers that have already reviewed the first eleven or twelve hundred pages, only to now have to dig through an additional four hundred of them. Speaker Pelosi and her colleagues are now trying to reshape this bill to get all of the things into this bill that they were never going to get.

Logan Sekulow joined us on the show today and made the following point:

I think when you see this list, you’re going to be shocked. Thann has mentioned a few of them. Literally some of them are to the effect of, if you buy a plane ticket now there’s a new restriction on airlines where they have to showcase what their carbon footprint is on the ticket of what you purchased or on your receipt.

You can listen to the entire episode with more analysis of the current state of the economic stimulus package negotiations as well as a more complete list of the ridiculous things that Speaker Pelosi put into the House version of the bill, here.
