It’s debate night Round 2 in Nashville, Tennessee.

On today’s Jay Sekulow Live/The Logan Sekulow ReProgram, we talked about tonight’s final debate before Election Day.

So far this election cycle, my co-host Will Haynes and I have been here on hosting duties to offer our own debate reactions, but today we were here to preview the debate.

My co-host, Will Haynes gave a good overview of tonight’s format and topics:

This will be more traditional style. It is Kristen Welker from NBC News moderating this debate. The controversy surrounding it is that the mics will be automatically muted of the non-speaker during the first two minute uninterrupted response. That caused some controversy. We’ll see how liberal we get with that mute button tonight, if they decide well, these things aren’t really on topic; we’re going to just mute a speaker at our will.

It’s a ninety minute debate. There’s some crossover on topics from the first debate which the President’s campaign was not necessarily pleased with. They wanted to focus on foreign policy like it had been billed from the start. Instead, they are going to revisit the race in America topic that Chris Wallace brought up. Leadership, which is very similar to his topic of their records because that’s essentially the same way to say the same thing. And then the other topics were the economy and climate change that they were going to be getting into, very similar line-up of topics that have been announced by the moderator.

The big question to ask is does this debate even matter? Considering so many votes have already been cast, does this debate do anyone any favors?

We also talked about the Democrat members of the Senate Judiciary Committee boycotting today’s committee confirmation vote on Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The committee actually voted unanimously 12 – 0 to approve Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court and send it on to the full Senate. The catch, of course, is that it was only unanimous because the Democrat committee members boycotted the vote. Regardless, the record will always show that the vote was unanimous.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham said the following this morning:

Today, I want to celebrate. I want to celebrate the fact that Judge Amy Barrett will be reported out of this committee unanimously. That, to all the young women out there like Amy Barrett, this is a big day for you. To the country as a whole, you’re going to have an Associate Justice on the Court that you should be proud of. This is a good day.

It looks like Judge Barrett will be confirmed by early next week.

The full broadcast is complete with a lot more analysis previewing tonight’s final presidential debate and more discussion of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Democrat members boycotting today’s confirmation vote.
