Yesterday marked the beginning of the House impeachment managers’ presentation of their case before the U.S. Senate.

On today’s Jay Sekulow Live, we discussed the second day of the Senate impeachment trial and provided exclusive analysis you won’t be able to find anywhere else.

ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, who is, in his private capacity, participating in the Senate impeachment trial as a leading member of President Trump’s legal team, had the following to say during a press conference:

They’re putting on their case. We will put on our case. I’m not going to give you time frames on the case, on how long it will take to put on ours, but I will tell you this; We will be putting on both an affirmative case in defense of the President, but also pointing out some of the errors in the case that they presented.

Jay continued:

The truth of the matter is why are we here? Are we having an impeachment over a phone call, or has this been a 3 year attempt to take down a President that was duly elected by the American people, and we’re doing this with 10 months to go to a general election. It’s pretty dangerous for our republic, in my view.

In an interview on Fox News with Brett Baier, Jay said the following:

Jerry Nadler accused the United States Senate of being liars and also of a coverup. He accused the President’s lawyer, Pat Cipollone, of...basically, you know, trying to make it like he had done something that was unethical; he was representing his client. Then he makes the statement on the floor of the United States Senate when he says “executive privilege and other nonsense.” These are constitutional privileges recognized by the Supreme Court.

He also said:

I mean, these policy disputes are not what the Founders had in mind when it came to the seriousness of an article of impeachment or a conviction on impeachment.

The Lead House Manager, Chairman Adam Schiff, made it clear that he does not trust the American people when they go to vote this November. Here’s what he said from the Senate floor:

The President’s misconduct cannot be decided at the ballot box, for we cannot be assured that the vote will be fairly won.
