Folks, get this: a CNN anchor says that President Trump is “being the kind of leader we need” during the COVID-19 virus pandemic. Think about that change of tune.

On today’s Jay Sekulow Live we discussed CNN anchor Dana Bash’s comments praising President Trump’s tone on the COVID-19 Coronavirus.

This is what Dana Bash said on CNN:

This was remarkable from the President of the United States. This is non-partisan, this is an important thing to note and to applaud from an American standpoint and from a human standpoint. He is being the kind of leader that people need, at least in tone today and yesterday, in tone, that people need and want and yearn for in times of crisis and uncertainty.

As I said on the show, it’s important to understand that was not someone on Fox News or someone who regularly defends the President as a commentator on television. Dana Bash is a CNN reporter, who has been known to criticize the President, who said those words live on CNN. That’s why this is big news.

This directly ties into former Vice-President Joe Biden basically taking the nomination last night. We have confirmation now that Senator Bernie Sanders and his campaign are in talks about what to do next. Do they turn the campaign into a SuperPAC in order to keep the Democrat Party turning further to the left? How do they keep this campaign going when he has no path to victory? Even with less primaries last night, former Vice-President Biden won them all and he won them big. Biden won Arizona by 12%. He won Illinois by 24%, and in Florida, the former V.P. won by 40%.

Former Vice-President Biden now has about 1,153 delegates to Senator Sanders’ 861. You need 1,991 to clinch the nomination. Senator Sanders has no path to victory.

This all directly ties to what Dana Bash said, especially if this is a crisis that continues through the summer, which means we’re getting near Election Day. The American people, looking back at history, don’t like changing the horse in the middle of a war.

This COVID-19 situation is very much like a war situation. Economically, it’s having that impact. Personally, on all of us, it’s having that impact. We can’t go about our normal days. We can’t have social gatherings, which are things people plan for and look forward to. We have to kind of reimagine what life is in a positive way. People are struggling with that already and the stock market has been hit hard.

My dad, Jay Sekulow, made the following point:

I’m actually reading The Second World War; it’s a five volume set by Winston Churchill. There’s a lot of parallels as far as how you manage in a situation like this.

What you don’t want is panic. What you do want is cohesive planning. I think what Dana Bash said was an example of where the country is right now, which is the President is not just striking the right tone, he’s taking it seriously so that the right policies are put in place.
