Truckers for Trump plan to boycott deliveries to New York City after the judge fined President Donald Trump $355 million in the civil fraud case. The former President has also been banned from overseeing his NYC companies for three years. How will the truckers’ protest affect commerce in the Big Apple?

The New York Post reports on the potential boycott:

A conservative social media influencer and trucker who goes by Chicago Ray posted a video clip in which he claims that some of his colleagues are going to stop making deliveries to New York City to protest the ruling, issued in Manhattan Supreme court on Friday.

“I’ve been on the radio talking to drivers for about the past hour and I’ve talked to about ten drivers … and they’re going to start refusing loads to New York City starting on Monday,” Ray said in the video from inside his truck. . . . .

Ray claimed that 95% of truckers support the former president in the X post, which has been viewed more than 4.6 million times and received more than 50,000 likes since Friday night.

You might wonder how many truckers can make delivery decisions on their own if they work for trucking companies. But the truth is about 1.7 million of the 3.5 million truckers in the U.S. work independently and can choose where they want to deliver goods. So a sizable number of truckers could be involved here.

We’ve recently seen several trucker blockades along the U.S.-Canada border. This potential boycott won’t block any traffic in New York City. We could see some serious problems if supplies don’t start arriving at NYC hotels, restaurants, companies, etc.

Again, the truckers’ ire derives from the obvious political prosecution being levied against President Trump. Several truck drivers called in to today’s Sekulow broadcast and railed against the policies in blue states that make truckers’ jobs harder (e.g., high tolls to cross the Brooklyn Bridge). All this anger has been boiling for some time.

Is their anger at the judgment against President Trump justified? One of the outrageous claims in the lawsuit is that Mar-a-Lago is only worth $18 million. Of course, any Florida realtor knows that this area of Florida is extremely expensive. For example, a plot of land smaller than 2.5 acres near Trump’s home was just going for $200 million.

ACLJ Senior Counsel Andy Ekonomou opined on the judge’s outrageous ruling:

You have a victimless “crime” here. You’ve got a crime in which there are no victims, nobody who has been harmed, nobody who has been hurt, nobody who has suffered financial loss. And yet you impose this enormous fine on him for doing business and succeeding. And I don’t understand how a judge can think that that is advancing the cause of justice in any way when you have a businessperson who has done so much for the city of New York – for the nation, for that matter.

We also have the news that the judge enhanced the role of a “monitor” to keep tabs on Trump’s business dealings in New York. The monitor will look at Trump’s business decisions under the microscope before they occur and not after. If the judge had put a receiver or trustee in place, it would have been absolutely devastating to the former President.

What is President Trump’s next move? He could appeal to the New York Supreme Court, the lowest trial court in New York (even though they call it the Supreme Court). Then he could go to the Appellate Division – an intermediate appellate court in New York – to see what they say about the judge’s decision.

Since the current leading GOP nominee for 2024 is facing nonstop political prosecution from the far Left, what does this mean for future presidential candidates? Will anyone want to run for President knowing their political opponents could try to bankrupt them or put them in jail?

We also have big news coming out of Michigan, where apparently, President Biden is not radical enough for the far Left. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MI-12), one of the controversial “Squad” Members of Congress, is urging Democrats to “vote uncommitted” in the primary.

Tlaib’s advocacy stems from her vehement opposition to Biden’s support of Israel’s mission to eradicate Hamas. Does this portend further schism within President Biden’s supporters in the 2024 election?

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the news of the potential boycott by truckers in retaliation for Trump’s outrageous fine. We also discussed the potential growing divide among Biden supporters because the President has voiced support for Israel.
