The Senate just passed its version of a stimulus bill. But will Americans get any real COVID-19 relief from the current legislation?

Today on Sekulow, we discussed the Senate’s the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief plan, which was passed this weekend by the slimmest of partisan margins. Is this is a real stimulus package designed to help Americans or just a Far-Left wish list?

It was slightly different from what the U.S. House of Representatives passed so it now has to go back to the House.

We discussed what we consider good about this COVID-19 relief plan, which is very slim, actually. Of course relief is very important for a lot of people, but sadly helping Americans with direct payments is only a very small part of this horrendous piece of legislation.

The downright ugly part of this legislation is that there are no Hyde Amendment protections whatsoever. That means that your taxpayer dollars that come out of this will be eligible to pay for abortions. This is the first stimulus package I can remember that did not have Hyde Amendment protections.

ACLJ Director of Government Affairs Thann Bennett shared his views on the lack of Hyde Amendment protections being included with this legislation:

The five stimulus bills that were passed last year in a bipartisan fashion, all of those had the Hyde Amendment language and protections attached to it. In my view, there’s a lot of really bad stuff in here, but in my view this is the worst policy change in this bill. Honestly, it is a finger in the eye of the pro-life community.

It also sends fifty million dollars in Title X funding with the intent of funneling it back to Planned Parenthood. This bill unleashes tax money for Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers to use for abortions and promoting abortion services and supporting future abortion laws.

We cannot do our critically important work bringing you information about legislation, defending the unborn, fighting the Deep State, or advocating for Israel without your support. We couldn’t bring in people to join our team at the ACLJ like former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo or former acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell without your help. The Matching Challenge means that every donation is effectively doubled. $5 becomes $10. $10 becomes $20. Please support the work of the ACLJ by donating today.
