The Ridiculously Absurd Kamala Harris Interview No One Is Talking About
Vice President Kamala Harris recently sat down with Katie Couric for a one-on-one interview. Quite a few mind-boggling moments occurred during their conversation, like Harris not batting an eye when Couric said that Harris is “not in charge of the southern border,” even though President Biden named her the Administration’s border czar in March of 2021.
But the most astonishing moment happened at the very beginning of the interview when Couric brought up abortion.
Couric: “I also think there’s a lot of disinformation about late-term abortions, and I think a lot of misconceptions about that, as well, that women are having abortions, you know . . . right before the baby is born. . . . How can you educate the public that even Roe had restrictions on the third trimester?”
Harris: “Well, not only that, but let’s just remember that before the Dobbs decision, this was not an issue that was being debated about whether women were doing these things that people are now describing as possible . . . .”
Couric: “ . . . partial-birth abortions.”
Harris: “Yeah.”
First of all, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on June 24, 2022. Before that, the partial-birth abortion debate spanned for decades. For Kamala Harris to say this wasn’t an issue before Roe was overturned is just misinformation that can easily be debunked.
Here are five times liberals proved Kamala Harris wrong:
- In 1997, a federal judge in Michigan overturned a state law that banned partial-birth abortions. In his ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Gerald E. Rosen said, “Although this Court is always reluctant to disturb the policy decisions of the elected representatives of the people . . . the Michigan partial-birth abortion statute must be declared unconstitutional and enjoined because, under controlling precedent, it is vague and overbroad and unconstitutionally imposes an undue burden on a woman’s right to seek a pre-viability second trimester abortion.”
- In 2007, the Supreme Court approved a ban on partial-birth abortion, upholding a federal law that was passed by Congress in 2003. Hillary Clinton voted against the ban. In 2008, President Obama condemned the Supreme Court’s decision, saying, “[C]onservative Supreme Court justices will look for other opportunities to erode Roe v. Wade.”
- As the ACLJ has reported, in 2019, the state of New York passed a barbaric law that made it legal to abort a baby at any time during a pregnancy. The law even removed legal protections for babies who were born after botched abortions.
- In 2020, while running for President, Pete Buttigieg used religion as an excuse not to give a stance on partial-birth abortion, which he was asked about during an appearance on The View. Meghan McCain asked Buttigieg to clarify a radical comment that he made on a radio show where he said, “There’s a lot of parts of the Bible that talk about how life begins with breath.” Buttigieg’s clarification: “Different people will interpret their own moral likes, and for that matter interpret Scripture differently. But we live in a country where it is extremely important that no one person has to be subjected to some other person’s interpretation of their own religion.”
- And in May of 2021 during a congressional hearing, President Biden’s Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra was asked if he agrees that partial-birth abortions are illegal. Becerra responded, “There is no medical term like ‘partial-birth abortion’” and “there is no law that deals specifically with the term ‘partial-birth abortion.’”
There you have it. Five examples of partial-birth abortions being at the forefront of conversations for nearly 30 years. And the fight against this horrific action hasn’t stopped.
The ACLJ remains vigilant in the fight for life. We stand ready to defend the unborn every chance we get.
