Planned Parenthood celebrated a milestone this week – its 99th birthday, an ironic term given the number of birthdays they have stolen by killing unborn babies. As they boast of their “accomplishments” over the past century, let’s talk about the real impact they have made on America.

1.Planned Parenthood has slaughtered over 7 million babies.

Planned Parenthood clinics alone have killed over 7 million unborn children through abortion.  They have helped decimate an entire generation.  They have literally ripped apart, limb for limb, America’s next great business leaders, doctors, teachers, pastors, politicians, mothers, fathers, and grandparents.

Yes, Planned Parenthood has provided some health services to women in need in the past 99 years. (Though it must be noted that for every one Planned Parenthood clinic, there are 20 other health clinics providing the same healthcare without providing abortions.) But whatever legitimate healthcare they provide does not begin to make up for the millions of babies they have slaughtered and the culture of death they have championed.

They have cloaked their actions with euphuisms like “progress,” “choice,” and “feminism.” But these labels do nothing to alter the fabric of their actions. Killing is killing no matter how you dress it up.

2.Planned Parenthood has disempowered women.

Planned Parenthood has not only slaughtered millions of baby girls, it has also done immeasurable damage to the mothers who carried those babies.

Planned Parenthood and its abortion allies claim to be promoting values of feminism and women’s empowerment.  Yet, everyday, they sell lie after to lie to the women they claim to serve.

They tell us that if our child is not going to be brought into the world in ideal circumstances, then our child is somehow less worthy of life. That our only and best option is to kill our own child.  That we aren’t strong enough to protect the life growing inside of us.  That we can’t be professionally successful and mothers at the same time.  That career ambition is worth killing.

And the lies go on and on and on, with all of them contributing to one simple message – as women we have to choose between motherhood and a successful life. This is empowering to women? This is pro-female?

But the problem with the narratives they are peddling is that they are simply not true. Abortion doesn’t empower women, it destroys us.  The procedure isn’t quick and painless – in fact, it is often very painful. And the decision to slaughter our own children doesn’t end in the examination room.  Thousands of post-abortive mothers (and fathers) have attested that their decision to abort their baby has haunted them ever since.

Women deserve better than abortion.  We deserve to be told we are strong enough to support the precious life growing inside of us, because we are.  We deserve to have doctors, counselors, and culture at large champion our unique ability to carry a child and walk alongside us as we do so.

Planned Parenthood, true feminism celebrates and supports women and our unborn children and leads us towards life, not death.

3.Planned Parenthood has perpetuated the eugenic vision of its founder.

Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger is viewed as a hero in the pro-abortion movement, yet her motivations for founding the organization are anything but heroic.

Sanger was a major advocate in the eugenics movement. In a February 1919 article entitled, "Birth Control and Racial Betterment," she argued that the birth control movement was a perfect partner with the eugenics movement to reach their mutual end goal: "seeking to assist the race toward the elimination of the unfit." In a speech in 1921, she divided society into numerous groups and said this atrocious comment concerning the poor:

The third are those irresponsible and reckless ones having little regard for the consequence of their acts, or whose religious scruples prevent their exercising control over their numbers.  Many of this group are diseased, feeble-minded, and are of the pauper element dependent entirely upon the normal and fit members of society for their support.  There is no doubt in the minds of all thinking people that the procreation of this group should be stopped. For if they are not able to support and care for themselves, they should certainly not be allowed to bring offspring into this world for others to look after. We do not believe that filling the earth with misery, poverty and disease is moral.  And it is our desire and intention to carry on our crusade until the perpetuation of such conditions has ceased.

We desire to stop at its source the disease, poverty and feeble-mindedness and insanity which exist today, for these lower the standards of civilization and make for race deterioration.

It's tempting for people of all political persuasions to whitewash history and strip unhelpful nuances from supposed heroes to make them fit our political agendas.

But what the pro-abortion movement does is beyond disconcerting - it's downright dishonest. Planned Parenthood and big abortion attempt to covers up the beliefs of its founder, while continuing her legacy of “population control” by disproportionately targeting poor and minority communities with messages that abortion is their only option.  They attempt to downplay and hide statistics that prove they are aborting more babies from minority communities.  In fact, in 2012 in New York City alone, more black babies were aborted than were born!

Even Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg told The New York Times Magazine in 2009, "Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don't want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding for abortion."

This perpetuation of the idea that some people are less worthy and less desirable than others is not only sickening – in the hands of pro-abortion advocates, it has proven deadly.

4.Planned Parenthood has made a lucrative business out of aborting babies and then selling their body parts.

Aborting babies is a very lucrative business.

Despite their assertions to the contrary, the numbers don’t lie.  According to Planned Parenthood’s own numbers, abortions cost anywhere from $515 to $1,500. At 327,653 reported abortions per year, Planned Parenthood makes anywhere between $163 million and as much as over $490 million every year on abortions alone.

In addition, it has also now been well documented by the investigative journalists at the Center for Medical Progress that many Planned Parenthood affiliates have been selling the body parts of aborted babies for profit.

Since getting caught selling the baby parts, Planned Parenthood has been shouting from the rooftops to anyone who will listen that its motives are pure and it is innocent of any wrongdoing.  Despite evidence pointing to the truth that at best they are sketchily working within loopholes in the law and at worst they are blatantly breaking numerous laws and medical ethics codes, they have used their army of news anchors and Hollywood stars to divert attention away from the facts to claim innocence.

But just last week, Planned Parenthood made a move that suggests they have known all along that their actions are legally questionable at best.

In yet another publicity stunt, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards announced that they will no longer be collecting money for the baby parts they “donate” to medical procurement labs. Why would they need to stop this practice if it was as benign as they claim it to be?

Planned Parenthood may have crafty lawyers and expensive PR campaigns, but no amount of money can keep the truth from coming to light.  No matter how many celebrities spout their talking points or politicians on the Left try to distract from the truth of the matter, their deeds will be exposed for what they are - deadly to millions of children, disempowering to millions of women, disenfranchising to poor and minority communities, and unethical to any society with a semblance of moral fiber.

As Planned Parenthood and its pro-abortion allies celebrate 99 years, take the time to be a light in the darkness. Pray that life will be protected. Support local crisis pregnancy centers and adoption agencies. Support pro-life politicians and laws at every level of government.

Stand up and support all lives. Because Planned Parenthood definitely isn’t.
