ObamaCare

Yesterday, was the deadline – March 31, 2014 – the last day to submit an application for ObamaCare.  Yet HealthCare.gov had another “glitch.”  On the last day to apply for ObamaCare, the ObamaCare website couldn’t accept new applications.

It’s a derisively cruel April Fools joke.

But that’s what ObamaCare is, a self-perpetuating, seemingly endless April Fools joke.

“If you like your plan, you can keep it.”  April Fools.  5 million people lost their insurance plans.

A state of the art website operational on October 1, 2013.  April Fools.  After months and months of timeouts and errors and over half a billion taxpayer dollars, HealthCare.gov still doesn’t work.

ObamaCare was supposed to insure the uninsured.  April Fools.  Estimates put the number of uninsured signing up at 1 million, accounting for only 2% of uninsured Americans.

The individual mandate wasn’t supposed to affect most Americans because businesses were mandated to provide insurance.  April Fools.  The employer mandate was delayed, but the individual mandate is fully enforced.

ObamaCare is revenue neutral.  April Fools.  It adds trillions in new debt.

On the campaign trail, we were assured that ObamaCare doesn’t increase taxes.  April Fools.  As the Obama Administration argued in court and the Supreme Court held, ObamaCare is a tax.

ObamaCare is supposed to help the economy.  April Fools.  It will shrink the workforce by 2.5 million.

Worst of all, we were promised – Senators enticed to vote for the bill were promised – that ObamaCare didn’t include abortions.  It’s the deadliest April Fools of all.  Now Little Sisters of the Poor is in the fight of their lives to prevent the Obama Administration from forcing these nuns to pay for abortion pills, and the Supreme Court is set to decide whether millions of business owners can be forced to violate their faith by paying for abortion pills.

ObamaCare has pulled the wool over the eyes of the American people from the start.  From the Cornhusker Kickback to even the deadline for ObamaCare, it has been nothing but one big April Fools debacle.

Now, the jokes on us.  They say trying to defeat ObamaCare is a fool’s errand.  But if we sit back and play the dunce time after time, with broken promise after broken promise from this Administration, who’s the fool?
