President Donald Trump’s self-imposed deadline for the “Big, Beautiful Bill” is looming. Will the House of Representatives help get the bill across the finish line after the Senate passed it yesterday?

As a refresher, for the bill to pass the House right now, no changes can be made to any of the Senate’s revisions. At the same time, several House Republicans are reportedly not planning to vote in favor of the bill, based on the Senate’s revisions. More than likely, a pressure campaign is now being mounted against these holdouts.

It will be interesting to see if such defectors remain resolute. Also, keep in mind, the American people gave Congress a mandate to pass Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill.” Will they ignore voters and risk being labeled as the rogue House Members who derailed Trump’s agenda?

Based on his history thus far, Speaker Mike Johnson has been able to get votes passed through the House. He admitted that the Senate adjusted the “Big, Beautiful Bill” more than he preferred: “I’m not happy with what the Senate did to our product.” However, Johnson didn’t say the House would make changes and was adamant that “[w]e’ll be working to get all of our members to yes.”

If the bill passes, President Trump will be able to implement roughly 75% of what he ran on. He can put policies in place that promote his economic vision ($4.5 trillion in tax cuts) and welfare reform for the country.

Of course, the far Left is decrying the plan as cutting Medicaid and Social Security benefits to citizens. Yet the bill seeks to root out the fraud that’s rampant in our welfare programs. It’s akin to the welfare reform that Speaker Newt Gingrich and President Bill Clinton famously passed (Contract With America) in the ’90s.

Of course, the bill isn’t perfect; no bill in Congress is going to satisfy the desires of 435 Members of the House. Yet Speaker Johnson has the task of convincing the House Republicans who didn’t get what they wanted to still vote yes. Of course, we’re not saying that the best way to legislate is to have 200-plus House Members put in what they want in a bill and say vote on it, but that is how the reconciliation process works.

All eyes remain glued on Congress. Will the “Big, Beautiful Bill” pass before our nation’s birthday? We’ll find out shortly.

In ACLJ-related news, ACLJ Executive Director Jordan Sekulow returned from his monthlong trip to Europe, where he worked alongside our European affiliate, the European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ). He explained how the conservative movement is on the rise in Europe:

We’ve seen some successes of political movements that really have not seen the likes of in Europe in the modern conservative movement . . . maybe you go back to Margaret Thatcher to make some kind of comparison to how close we could see some of these political movements work with the U.S. . . . We’ve seen it in Italy; we’ve seen it in Hungary . . . but we have also seen . . . victories in places like France, Spain, Poland, Romania. I mean, the list kind of goes on and on, and you’re seeing these movements in Germany as well.

Europe doesn’t really know what to make of [the conservative movements]. . . . [Recent far-Left attacks have been testing] their survival, whether it’s what we saw in France, [such as] trying to take Marion Le Pen off the ballot there so she can’t run for president in two years. We’ve also seen a lot of concern out of Hungary with the European Union’s involvement, potentially, in their next election . . . [trying] to get rid of Hungary as an example of what it means to have secure borders in Europe.

Clearly, it is a pivotal time for the conservative movement in Europe. That’s why the ECLJ’s work is so vital, and we must fight back against efforts to quash conservatism.

In addition, Jordan traveled to the U.N. to advocate on behalf of Israel. The ACLJ also recently sent demand letters to the U.N. Secretary-General, the U.N. Security Council, and the U.N. Human Rights Council to defend Israel. We will never stop fighting for our greatest ally.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the pending vote for President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill.” Former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell previewed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming visit to Washington, D.C.
