President Trump’s Furious Phone Call With PM Netanyahu
Listen tothis article
It’s been a wild 24 hours. We went to bed after hearing President Trump proclaim that the war between Israel and Iran was over, and then we woke up to the news that both sides had bombed each other again.
This morning President Donald Trump issued a fiery response to the ceasefire violations by both Iran and Israel. He followed that up with a heated phone call to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who agreed to stop dropping bombs on Iran.
Previously, Trump and Netanyahu had a historically strong relationship. I don’t see this phone call causing a long-term diplomatic rift between Israel and the U.S.
We must remember that Trump’s ultimate goal was to take out Iran’s nuclear site and avoid dragging America into a much broader war. That goal can still be achieved if both Iran and Israel abide by the ceasefire.
At the same time, we must also consider Israel’s perspective. A ceasefire with Iran will never be a peace deal. It can never have peace with the Iranian regime that’s in place, so Israel’s endgame is to force a regime change in Iran.
Israel has Iran in a unique position. Its proxies have been decimated. The leader of Hezbollah is dead, Hamas’ leadership is dead, and the Houthis have been sidelined due to Iran’s focus on its military engagement with Israel. So Israel has Iran on the ropes.
Going forward, we can expect to see two distinct policy objectives from the Trump Administration and Israel. Trump wants to keep the peace in the Middle East, and Israel wants to finish off Iran. We will keep you updated on further developments.
In the meantime, Trump secured another victory at the U.S. Supreme Court. The Justices, in a 6-3 vote, granted Trump’s request to stay a lower court injunction that prevented his Administration from deporting illegal migrants to third-world countries. If you remember, Trump’s deportations had been blocked by a nationwide injunction.
Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown were the dissenting voices on the bench. Justice Sotomayor vehemently opposed the mass deportations: “Rather than allowing our lower court colleagues to manage this high-stakes litigation with the care and attention it plainly requires, this Court now intervenes to grant the Government emergency relief from an order it has repeatedly defied. I cannot join so gross an abuse of the Court’s equitable discretion.”
Conversely, none of the remaining Justices explained why they ruled in Trump’s favor. So despite the opposition of Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Brown, the Trump Administration can resume removing violent illegal migrants after the Supreme Court reversed the district court’s earlier decision.
The latest high Court decision could also be a sign of how the Justices will eventually rule in the ACLJ’s amicus brief tackling the out-of-control lawfare being waged against President Trump by the Left’s handpicked judges. We filed this brief on behalf of the state of West Virginia, partnering with West Virginia Attorney General J.B. McCuskey.
The judicial rulings at issue are not orders issued by the Supreme Court Justices but edicts by a handful of district court judges across the country, indefinitely halting President Trump’s Executive actions through nationwide injunctions.
We must put an end to the rogue activist judges who are blocking President Trump’s agenda. So far, the ACLJ has filed eight briefs in federal court in response to this issue, and we hope to achieve a favorable ruling regarding our amicus brief at the U.S. Supreme Court sooner rather than later.
