Kamala’s Massive Google Scheme

Axios reports that Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign is buying sponsored Google ads to rewrite headlines to paint her in a positive light. The news agencies (e.g., The Guardian, CNN, Time, Reuters, the AP, NPR, and CBS News) claim to be unaware of the Harris-Walz manipulation of the headlines.

For example, Axios shares one headline that says in a big font: “Inflation Is Down.” Then it says, “Under the Biden-Harris Administration, ‘The U.S. is winning the inflation fight.’” If you click the link and go to Reuters, guess what? It’s not the actual headline at Reuters.

The unethical rewriting of headlines is the epitome of fake news. Now again, this is all coming from the same Administration that wants to silence conservatives and political opponents for “misinformation.”

Remember when they had the Department of Homeland Security Disinformation/Misinformation Czar? We filed a FOIA lawsuit against the Biden Administration over its “Disinformation Governance Board.” Two years later, the ACLJ remains in court over this issue.

And then the Deep State went to social media companies and told them what posts to censor. The most famous example is when the FBI told Facebook to take down stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop, directly affecting the 2020 election results.

And just a couple of days ago, the far Left was in a frenzy over Elon Musk’s audacity to host an interview with President Trump on X (formerly Twitter), a social media platform that Musk owns. Regarding this interview, a Washington Post journalist asked White House Press Secretary Karine-Jean Pierre if the Administration could censor Trump’s spread of misinformation.

Unfortunately, most Americans will only check out the rewritten Harris headlines and not read the full news story. And how often do headlines and articles get shared on social media without the person actually reading the article? The misinformation continues to spread like wildfire.

At the same time, rewriting headlines does tell us something significant: The Harris-Walz campaign is clearly worried about issues like the economy and immigration. Otherwise, why would it say so many glowing falsehoods about the Biden-Harris record? That’s why the campaign is actively paying money to distance itself from the truth.

And the news agencies should be outraged at what’s happened to their headlines. If they truly cared about journalism, they would condemn their headlines being turned into fake news. However, they’re quietly allowing the Harris campaign to trample all over their journalistic integrity.

In other news, the ACLJ has a new religious liberty case after a local government blocked a church from using a community meeting room in the town’s library to conduct Bible studies and hold gatherings for grief support. Our client, a pastor in Massachusetts, initially reserved the community room but then was later denied access.

The pastor then tried to meet at an open area of a public park. He published an ad in the local newspaper to promote the Bible study. Then the local government outrageously demanded that the local newspaper pull the ad.

Both these acts are egregious constitutional violations, flying in the face of decades-old Supreme Court precedents. We sent a legal demand letter to the local government, demanding that our client be immediately permitted to use the public library meeting rooms under the same terms and conditions that apply to anyone else.

We also demanded that the pastor and his church no longer be excluded from public parks because of their religious activity and that the town immediately cease threatening the newspaper for sharing information about a constitutionally protected event.

If the town refuses our demands, the ACLJ will take the case to federal court. We will keep you updated on further developments.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the Harris-Walz campaign buying Google ads to rewrite news headlines. Former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell reacted to Columbia University’s president resigning over the pro-Hamas riots that overran the campus.
