In a considerable about-face from statements made within just the last few days, senior Democrats have now admitted publicly that America needs enhanced security along our southern border – including a “physical barrier.”

Today on the show we discussed how prominent Democrats  – including Senator Mark Warner of Virginia – have finally acknowledged additional border security is indeed necessary. At least two top Democrats even admitted the need for “physical barriers.”

Yesterday Sen. Warner told Fox News:

“I know we’re going to have to add additional border security . . . where folks say we need additional barrier protections, I’m all for it.”

Democratic House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer openly admitted in an interview that “physical barriers are part of the solution.”

Even prominent Democrat Rep. James Clyburn, who opposes a physical wall, stated a willingness to work with the President to secure the border, including a so-called “smart wall” of technology.

“Using the figure the president put on the table, if his $5.7 billion is about border security then we see ourselves fulfilling that request, only doing it with what I like to call using a smart wall,” Clyburn told reporters.”

While not conceding to a physical wall, Rep. Clyburn suggested enhanced security in the form of drones, X-rays, and sensors, and hiring and training more border patrol agents.

These Representatives’ comments are markedly different from what we had been hearing from the Democrats in recent days. Just a few days ago, Rep. Clyburn tweeted: “Until the President releases his hostages – federal workers and the American people – there will be no negotiation.”

Are these the cracks in the Democrat wall that will finally lead to a secure border?
