Radio Recap: SCOTUS Rules for Trump Administration on Immigration Enforcement for Convicted Criminals

It’s hard to believe that it had to be determined by the highest court in the nation, but illegal immigrants convicted of crimes and imprisoned in the United States filed a lawsuit claiming that rather than be deported, they should be allowed to roam free inside the country once they are released.

Fortunately, the majority of our Supreme Court Justices disagreed.

On today’s broadcast, we discussed the Administration’s big win at the Supreme Court, which ruled by a narrow margin of 5 – 4 that immigration authorities can detain immigrants awaiting deportation any time – potentially even years – after they have been released from prison for criminal convictions.

If you are illegally present in this country—even if you originally came legally for a period of time, and choose to commit a crime, you lose the right to be here. The ruling means that these convicted criminals can be held in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centers while they awaiting deportation.

Yet another symptom of the emergency festering at our border, despite those on the Left claiming there isn’t one. Meanwhile, some on the Left have spoken about abolishing ICE, which could mean these convicted criminals would be free to go wherever they wished, and possibly disappear into the system.

We simply cannot allow that, and we support the Supreme Court ruling. This is why we need conservative constitutional Justices on the Supreme Court. This is especially true as the Left is talking about potentially packing the court with additional Justices. They are also actively blocking the President’s conservative nominees.

We also gave you updates on our fight to free Christian Pastor John Cao – a U.S. permanent resident from North Carolina – who has been unjustly imprisoned in China for over 2 years for serving the poor, and Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, beaten by authorities and locked up in Iran for his Christian faith.

We’ve recently intervened for both of these men and their heartbroken families at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.
