Last night, the President announced on Twitter that he will be temporarily suspending immigration to the United States while we deal with beating the Coronavirus.
On today’s Jay Sekulow Live we discussed President Trump’s announcement of the temporary suspension of immigration to the United States as we fight to stop the spread of COVID-19.
President Trump tweeted the announcement:
In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!
As of when we went on the air today, we had not yet gotten word that the Executive Order had been signed. We expect that it will be signed today and we’ll get a report on that.
National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien commented on the temporary ban:
Those bans saved thousands, or tens of thousands of American lives, so the President is not going to take political decisions here. But he’s going to look at how he can protect Americans both economically and protect their health. So this is a temporary issue, just like the prior bans were temporary, and we’re doing it to keep the American people safe.
This is already drawing criticism from the Left. Remember, the President oftentimes points out that it was the same liberals in Congress who criticized him for banning travel from China and then banning travel from Europe. Now, doctors like Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx have said that really the main reason why the U.S. has not had a worse outbreak of COVID-19 was the travel ban.
That gets us to a second point where you have a number of states starting to plan their re-opening, some of which are re-opening as soon as the end of this week. Other states are planning re-openings on Monday, letting “stay at home” orders expire. That does not mean that your city or county will necessarily be completely open. That’s the governors allowing the county and city officials to start making those decisions because they are allowing those “stay at home” orders to come to a close. And it’s important to point out that’s also not the case for every state.
You can listen to the entire episode, complete with more analysis by our team of the pending congressional deal to replenish the Paycheck Protection Program as well as a breakdown of what states are doing to re-open, here.

It’s been nineteen years years since 9/11. On today’s Jay Sekulow Live/Logan Sekulow Reprogram we talked about how we were impacted and he we respond this many years later. The 9/11 terror attacks were the single most heinous terror attacks to occur on U.S. soil. People who were only toddlers that...
On this 19th anniversary of the senseless slaughter that took place on a bright and beautiful day on the East Coast of the United States, we pause and take solemn moments to remember 9/11. Like the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, it is a day that will live in infamy. Like Pearl Harbor, it was a...
We’ve warned you that the radical Left is trying to block the President’s ability to secure our nation’s borders. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her colleagues have been fighting the President’s efforts to secure our border for a long time, putting our national security at risk. The ACLJ is taking...
Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe’s recent announcement to continue providing congressional briefings, but now in written form, is a welcomed development. While Rep. Adam Schiff and the media in Washington, D.C., try and pretend like Members of Congress are no longer receiving...
