This morning we topped 158,000 signatures on our petition in support of Mt. Soledads War Memorial.  As you will recall, the ACLU has been engaged in a long-term litigation with the city of San Diego over the cross, which is part of the Mt. Soledad War Memorial.  The ACLU even objected to the sale of the property to a private association.

Over two weeks ago in a 5-3 vote, the city determined to appeal the decision requiring the removal of the cross.  We filed a memorandum of support of a resolution for the appeal, and we were pleased that the appeal was passed.  This morning we finalized our brief to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.  In addition to the 158,000 members of the American Center for Law and Justice who signed on to assist the city of San Diego, we are representing members of Congress, including Congressman Duncan Hunter.    I will keep everybody posted as this case continues to progress.
