Iran Lies – Don't Believe Their Propaganda on the Morality Police and Hijabs

If there is one thing we know about the brutal Iranian Regime in Tehran, it is that they lie.

The Israeli government in 2018 seized a storage locker full of documents and photographs from Iran proving that the Iranian Regime was lying about its nuclear programs. Some of the nuclear documents found were International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) files used by Iranian officials in 2004-2006 to develop cover stories for the Regime’s nuclear ambitions. Photographic evidence showed before and after sites scrubbed and cleaned to avoid IAEA inspectors’ scrutiny.

The Iranian Regime lied to the U.S., to the U.N., and to the entire international community about their ambitions.

The Regime also lies about its human rights abuses. We know the Regime executed people they say spied for Israel, and we know they murdered protesters who were peacefully petitioning their government. We also know that the Iranian Regime has lied about the existence of gay people in Iran and their systematic killing of gay people by pushing them off buildings. There is video proof of all of it. In fact, the Regime is so brutal toward its citizens that the recent protests throughout the country saw the Regime and its Morality Police attack and kill women who appeared in public without a head covering.

Since April 1983, the Iranian Regime has made it obligatory for women in Iran to wear the traditional head covering known as a hijab. But this summer saw hundreds of Iranian women protesting without a hijab.  The reaction from the Guidance Patrol or Morality Police, as they are known, was swift. Women were beaten into submission, arrested, and some even killed for their refusal to comply.

The international reaction was loud and swift. Women in America, Europe, and even the Middle East have raised their voices and taken to the streets to criticize the Iranian leaders.  The condemnation was even felt at the World Cup in Doha, Qatar, where soccer fans wore supportive t-shirts, waved banners, and even took to the field in support of greater women’s rights in Iran.

The Morality Police and the Regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei understand clearly that they must simultaneously appear to ease the brutal rules and the international scrutiny while at the same time not appear to give in.  They have learned important lessons over the years that conceding to protesters and critics only encourages them to do more. So while the Morality Police say that the mandatory head covering will be suspended, they do not say that the Islamic Leaders have approved the decision. In fact, religious leaders have continued to call for severe punishments for women who don’t comply with the head coverings rules.

It is the typical tactic of the Regime. Say one thing but do another.
