Escalation – US Strikes Iranian Targets in Syria
President Biden ordered U.S. airstrikes in Syria on facilities used by Iran’s military in response to Iranian proxies’ recent attacks on our troops. How will this bombing affect the Middle East conflict between Israel and the terrorists in Gaza?
The U.S. military conducted airstrikes on two facilities in eastern Syria on Thursday in response to ongoing attacks against American military personnel in Iraq and Syria over the past week, according to the Department of Defense.
A pair of F-16s targeted two facilities – a weapons depot and an ammo storage area – near Abu Kamal used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and affiliated groups, a senior U.S. defense official told Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin. It’s unclear if there were any Iranian militants at the facilities when they were hit.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement Thursday night that the U.S. does not seek conflict, but the “Iranian-backed attacks” on American forces are “unacceptable and must stop.”
“Iran wants to hide its hand and deny its role in these attacks against our forces. We will not let them,” Austin said. “If attacks by Iran’s proxies against U.S. forces continue, we will not hesitate to take further necessary measures to protect our people.”
This was not an attack on Iranian proxies but on Iran because it uses weapons storage facilities in Syria. Also, remember the growing U.S. presence in the region in conjunction with the two massive naval carrier groups (USS Eisenhower and the USS Gerald R. Ford) we’ve sent to the Middle East. With these airstrikes, the U.S. sent a message globally as well as regionally, and I’m glad President Biden responded in defense of our troops.
The Administration is going to act like the airstrikes have nothing to do with the conflict involving Israel and Hamas terrorists, but geopolitically, I don’t believe this argument will fly. Make no mistake: It’s impossible to separate what’s happening with Israel from Iran and Syria.
You’re talking about a small area in the Middle East with several countries bordering each other. What happens in one country affects the surrounding countries. For example, if something were to happen in Connecticut, it would impact New Hampshire or other states in the New England area.
We also have the news that Russia is hosting a meeting in Moscow with Hamas and Iran. What we are seeing is a new Axis of Evil coming together. Those who know their World War II history know the danger of such an alliance.
And Iran even announced at the U.N. that the U.S. won’t be spared if Israel’s war against Hamas continues. This is outrageous and further proves what a threat Iran poses to the West.
Yet Israel isn’t just being attacked in the Middle East but also on college campuses in the U.S. Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz, a man I’m proud to call a colleague, joined the broadcast to discuss the growing antisemitism in academic circles:
What Harvard did recently was just outrageous and set up a commission to protect the antisemites to protect the students who blamed all of this on Israel while not doing [anything] to protect the Jewish students, the Christian students, the students who support Israel. The students who are against antisemitism – they’re on their own. But the bigots are being protected. There’s a whole commission set up to make sure that they continue to coddle these students. These are 33 student groups – on the day after, even before Israel did anything – they blamed the rapes, the murders, [and] the beheadings on the Jews and on Israel.
Dershowitz demanded that Harvard provide the names of the students engaging in pro-Hamas demonstrations. Future employers need to know which prospective lawyers are in favor of beheading Jews. Yet Harvard has not heeded Dershowitz’s wishes.
Dershowitz’s book War Against the Jews: How to End Hamas Barbarism will be available in December. I highly recommend that you read this book to learn more about the growing antisemitism both globally and in America.
Finally, near the conclusion of today’s show, I received news from colleagues in Israel that the incursion of Gaza has commenced. Continue to pray for Israel as they root out the Hamas terrorists and remove future threats to the Israeli people. Contrary to the media’s reporting, Israel is not targeting Palestinian civilians but murderous Hamas jihadists. Show your support for Israel by becoming an ACLJ Champion and funding our efforts to defend Israel – month in and month out.
