Vice President Harris Lies During Interview: “We Have A Secure Border”

Vice President Kamala Harris has been strangely quiet for much of the Biden Administration’s term in the White House. When she does talk, we tend to only see a clip here or a snippet there. She has said some outlandish things,  but to date, we haven’t called her out for any outright lies - UNTIL NOW.

When asked if she would call our southern border with Mexico secure, she had the audacity to claim (eventually) that “the border is secure.”

Yesterday on Meet The Press, NBC journalist Chuck Todd sat down with the Vice President and asked her if she would call the border secure, to which V.P. Harris answered:

I think that there is no question that we have to do what the President and I asked Congress to do, the first request we made: pass a . . . bill to create a pathway to citizenship. The border is secure. But we also have a broken immigration system in particular over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed.

I’m sorry, what? Maybe Chuck Todd should have been more specific about which border.

To be fair to V.P. Harris, allow me to point out the one true statement buried within the nonsense. We do in fact have a broken immigration system. No debate there. We’ve all been watching it unfold for some time. But let’s be really honest, the humanitarian crisis at the border we’re witnessing truly exploded in the last TWO YEARS – not four. The difference? Biden-Harris took office, refused to continue construction on the border wall begun by President Trump, and ten illegal immigrants began to flood in, almost immediately overwhelming our border patrol agents. 

But then the V.P.’s nose really begins to grow. The border is secure? We see the news every day. Hundreds of thousands of illegal crossings and border patrol encounters. Also hundreds of thousands of deadly fentanyl pills and other life-destroying narcotics are being smuggled across the border by drug cartels.

Then there was the semi-truck tragedy where 51 desperate souls perished because they entrusted their lives to evil coyotes who promised to smuggle them into the U.S. but instead left them to die in a dark trailer in the summer heat. Can you imagine a worse nightmare?

And now busloads of immigrants are being sent to other major metropolitan cities like New York and Washington D.C., causing those mayors – Left-leaning mayors who had previously touted their cities as sanctuaries for undocumented migrants – to lash out, and desperately beg for aid from the federal government. Also let’s not forget that known terrorists have been caught sneaking into our country, under President Joe Biden’s watch.

VP Harris certainly knows all these facts and still has the audacity to look into a television camera and tell Americans that our border is secure. I try to examine every possible angle before labeling something an out-and-out lie, but in this instance, there is no other way to say it. The Vice President is lying. And she knows it.

Keep in mind she also told Chuck Todd that we’re all suffering because the Supreme Court – which she referred to as an “activist court” – overturned Roe v. Wade. Once again, Madame Vice President, what you’re saying is untrue. Many of us are happy as a result of the landmark SCOTUS ruling. I’ll tell you who isn’t suffering, and that’s countless unborn babies who get to be born now and given at least a shot at a happy life.

But as is par for the course, the Left can’t see through its own smokescreen. The reality is abortion is killing a human and the ones suffering are the defenseless babies being killed. And two things can be true. For instance, an open border is dangerous and a threat to the security of all Americans, BUT the United States is a nation of immigrants and we welcome legal immigrants who follow the proper channels to come here. We celebrate immigration, but it has to be conducted in a legal, organized, safe, and verifiable way.

ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell joined us to cut through the Harris story and defend America’s stance on welcoming immigrants:

That statement, that was a joke. I mean where is the actual media that critique people who say stupid things? [She] didn’t take even an iota of a second to talk about the border crisis, fentanyl, drugs pouring in, crime. Look I want to say this because I think it’s really important any time we talk about the border. We are the most generous nation when it comes to immigration. Roughly about a million people get to become U.S. citizens. Unfortunately about a hundred-million people are trying to become citizens, so we have to have rules and laws. Don’t ever let anyone tell us that we are not being super generous and helping immigrants. We have to have rules otherwise we’re going to end up like Europe and there’s going to be a Brexit situation, because that’s exactly what transpired in Europe when Merkel couldn’t get the rules right on immigration.

The scariest thing is that V.P. Harris was put in charge of securing the border and ending the crisis (that they denied existed, then acknowledged, then walked back the acknowledgment), and after doing absolutely nothing, not even actually visiting the sections of the border that matter, she casually offers it’s “secure.” This head-in-the-sand attitude is why, as my dad, ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow says, every town in America is now a border town. This is not good folks. Midterms are only a few months away. I hope you’re paying attention.
