Remember when Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that he was going to send illegal migrants that President Biden dropped off in his state on a charter bus and drop them off in Washington, D.C.? Well, he actually did it. The charter bus arrived at Capitol Hill this morning, filled with illegal immigrants who volunteered to relocate to Washington, D.C.

Governor Abbott announced his decision on April 6th:

To help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden Administration, Texas is providing charter buses to send these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden Administration to Washington, D.C. We are sending them to the United States Capitol where the Biden Administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border.

Now the Biden Administration is trying to blame Texas for “supply chain issues.” Why? Because Texas troopers are inspecting trucks at ports of entry into Texas from Mexico to make sure the vehicles are not carrying fentanyl. They’re inspecting vehicles to increase safety for overwhelmed border cities. Texas’ strategy seems to be working. The Texas Division of Emergency Management reported to Fox News:

Many of the communities that originally reached out for support – from the Rio Grande Valley to Terrell County – say the federal government stopped dropping immigrants in their town since Abbott’s announcement on April 6.

So how is Gov. Abbott able to circumvent the federal government on this immigration issue? ACLJ Director of Policy Harry Hutchison explained:

So, the United States Supreme Court has identified the federal government as the supreme authority controlling immigration across our borders. That is number one. So, number two, because of that rule, the state of Texas has to make sure that it doesn’t violate the law and it can do so by asking whether or not these illegal immigrants wish to go to Washington, D.C., or Hawaii, or Montana. And it has to do that because it would face a lawsuit from the federal government.

This just shows that if the Biden Administration continues to ignore this crisis, governors will take action to ensure the well-being of the citizens of their states. ACLJ Senior Military Analyst Wes Smith detailed some major issues at the border that the Biden Administration is not addressing:

The Biden Administration is turning a blind eye and a deaf ear to the sex trafficking and the national security. . . . I mean 150 different countries were represented so far in this fiscal year coming across the border. . . . The other thing is the moral issue of sex trafficking. 1 in 4 victims of trafficking are children. And when it comes to sex trafficking, 99 percent of those who are sex trafficked are women and underage girls. In America 20,000-30,000 children a year according to experts that follow this are introduced into the sex trade in the United States of America. Being brought across the border is an undeniable moral issue. And the traffickers, they don’t go through ports of entry. . . . The national security issues and the moral issues of sex trafficking – you never hear the Administration express any alarm, or shock, or concern, and meanwhile children, mainly young girls, are being trafficked in the United States of America to the tune of tens of thousands a year. It is so wrong.

Another area that the Biden Administration is deflecting responsibility for is America’s skyrocketing inflation and gas prices.

ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo detailed in his new article what the Biden Administration can do to unleash American energy. He addresses how this problem could’ve been avoided in the first place:

Some things just happen sometimes, but this one was foisted upon us by an Administration that put the green climate agenda ahead of the American people. All of the list of things you listed off, whether it’s the cost to fill your car at the gas station, or what will trickle through food prices . . . and everything that depends on fertilizer . . . these are things that impact families across every economic status and all across the nation. It happened because the Biden Administration wanted to live in fantasy land . . . where sunshine and wind were going to drive American energy. We know that isn’t affordable for most families, we know it doesn’t actually deliver. It created an enormous risk to families all across the country.

Whether Americans are suffering at the gas pump, in the grocery store, or at our very own southern border, the Biden Administration needs to take action to protect Americans here at home.
