TRUMP INDICTMENT: Soros-Funded DA Chooses Political Prosecution and Ignores Violent Criminals

He predicted it would happen, and now former President Donald Trump has been indicted and is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday. But as of right now, we don’t know what the indictment contains or how many counts are included.

As reported:

Donald Trump faces more than 30 counts related to business fraud in an indictment from a Manhattan grand jury, according to two sources familiar with the case – the first time in American history that a current or former president has faced criminal charges.

Trump is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

The indictment has been filed under seal and will be announced in the coming days. The charges are not publicly known at this time.

This is a political prosecution, plain and simple by a far Left, Soros-funded District Attorney (DA) intended to keep the leader opposition candidate out of office. The Left has just turned the United States, the most powerful nation in the world, into a banana republic.

This is exactly what my dad, ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, argued against when he personally represented President Trump at the U.S. Supreme Court – making clear that we cannot allow 2,300 local DAs to harass a President.

Yet a politically based indictment has just been handed down. President Trump is expected to surrender himself and reportedly may not be placed in handcuffs. Maybe even the Left knows putting Trump in cuffs could be the optic that lands him right back in the White House.

But this political indictment sets a dangerous precedent – especially at a time in our history when not only is our former President being investigated by a special counsel, but also our CURRENT PRESIDENT is being investigated by a special counsel as well. Look at the attention DA Alvin Bragg is receiving for indicting a former President. Imagine what a career boost a move like this could be if a DA had political aspirations.

Now what’s to stop any other ambitious DAs from indicting President Biden? By prosecuting Trump, DA Bragg has pulled the American justice system into some dangerous waters.

And always there to make matters worse, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi weighed in on the indictment against President Trump, erroneously claiming that defendants must prove their innocence in court.

As Pelosi tweeted:

The Grand Jury has acted upon the facts and the law.

No one is above the law, and everyone has the right to a trial to prove innocence.

Hopefully, the former President will peacefully respect the system, which grants him that right.

With all due respect, that is not how it works at all. In America, everyone is innocent until PROVEN GUILTY, and defendants don’t have to prove anything. They have the right to a speedy trial and legal representation to refute any evidence, which is, again, the burden of the prosecution to produce. Defendants don’t even have to speak.

How could someone, who just months ago was the third most powerful lawmaker in Washington, D.C., not get that right? It’s actually chilling.

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes more analysis of what we know about the indictment, next week’s arraignment, and what this unprecedented play signifies. We’re also joined by ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell, who shares his reactions to the indictment of its biggest political competition, calling it a clear “power move from the ruling party” just like a “third-world dictatorship.”
